there was a young woman, she had gotten drafted, she was not made for the military life, no, she panicked easily, she hated getting yelled at, but she had no choice.
and in this hellish place, she met an older man, they had become good friends he helped her, mentored her, and in this God awful world, he was her one retreat.
it was then time to go into combat, "it'll be alright" said the older man as he squeezed her hand "when this is all over, let's stay in touch" he said with that smile of his, she loved his smile, it made her forget, forget why she was there, forget what might happen, and forget what she would return to, that is if she survives.
this young woman, she had seen him die during the battle, though it had not quite set in as she kept fighting, but at the end when everyone had either left, or died she knelt at the side of her dead comrade.
he had been with her through thick and thin through these past few months, kept her going.
and there laid his lifeless body eyes wide open, face frozen in terror, and with a shaking hand, she slowly closed his eyes, kneeling over his body, she spoke, on the verge of tears, she simply stated:
"I am cold, but hotI am sad, but I feel nothing
I am simple, but complicated
I am tired, but my mind is going a million miles an hour
and everything is changing so fast
when all I want, is *peace*.
but then, she did not cry, she *could not* cry, she got up, and with one last glance down at her comrade, she started walking . . . .
