As im waiting for Leo to come pick me up from my little therapy group meeting, I think to myself in pitty "I shoulda known he would leave me here."
He pulls up in his black Toyota.
"Hey there little grumpy face.
You hungry?"
I nod as I hop into the passenger seat.
He cracks a smile "How'd it go?"
I stare at my arms.. "Good I guess. But I couldn't help but wonder why everyone was staring at me.. Have they not cut?"
He nods as he pulls up to a restaurant.
"Probably because your so beautiful"
I roll my eyes as I open the car door and get out. "Sure" I laugh.
He drapes his arm over my shoulder and says
"What a beautiful day!"
He walks in to the front desk and asks for a table for two. After he payed a waitress came and took us to our table.
It was nice.. White table cloth and a small lantern as the center piece.
I flipped through the menu.
And Leo did the same.
He looked up at me, "what do you want to eat?"
I look at the menu again...
" I'll just order a water and a steak."
He nods. Alright I'll order the same.
The waitress comes and gives us a soft smile.
May I take your order?
Leo shyly smiles. "Yes please, id like two steaks a glass of water and a glass of sweet tea.
She scribbles on her notepad.. "Alright will that be all?"
"Yes, thank you"
She nods and walks into the kitchen.
Leo fiddles with his watch as I rest my head on my hand.. He looks up "Okay so how are your arms?" .. I show him the fading cuts. "Still burn a little when I bend or touch my arms."
He frowns, "You'll be fine love.How ya been feeling so far?" .. My eyebrows knit together at the painful memory of my suicidal sister in my arms.. "Not so well. But I'll manage." He smiles his award winning smile. "That's my girl."
Minutes later the waitress comes back with our food and drinks, we say thank you and Leo pays her the tip and overall cost of our little "date"
We eat and leave the restaurant with full bellies and the sleepiest looks on our faces, Leo turns on the car and drives out of the Parking lot heading towards home.
I look at the sky before the sunset with light shades of violet and purple mixed with light shades of red kind of pink . It was pretty. I closed my eyes and waiting at the traffic light to turn green Leo put his hand over mine.
He squeezed in worry.
"You alright Sam?"
"Yea , I mutter.. Just sleepy"
He nods as he drives us home to our comfy beds.
As Leo pulls into the driveway he gives me a quick kiss on the cheek after turning off the engine. And we get out the car and head inside.
I walk in the house and head upstairs to my bedroom across from Leo's. I kick my shoes off and let my hair loose As I flop onto my bed and get comfy in the sheets. Leo walks in with some warm tea. And slides in next to me sipping it while reading a book.
I smile and snuggle up next to him exposing my burning arms.. He frowns and gently brushed his fingertips over the cuts.
"Sleep well Princess"
Smiling still.. I close my eyes and think "One day you wont have to frown at those cuts.." Moments later we fell asleep on each other and dreamt about the future ahead of us.
With hope that life will actually get better for once.
