While we were driving to the mall I remembered that I had to call mine and Ivy's best friend, Hunter to drop off her birthday present tonight at 12 a.m. I am really excited for her to see what it is because it took me forever to find it, and I've been saving up my money for a year now. It's a 1967 Chevy Impala, almost identical to the one on our favorite TV show Supernatural.
"Hey Dakota, what're thinking about?" she asks curiously.
"Oh nothing really. Just what I'm going to be wearing to your party. What do you think I should wear?" This wasn't a full lie because I really was thinking about what I should wear since I'll be meeting someone very near to my heart, and it is her birthday so, I have to look nice.
"Well, I'm wearing a dress," she says "but you can wear whatever you want, just look presentable." She adds with a snicker.
"Excuse me, I am always presentable," I say, slightly offended.
"Heh, yeah, okay," she replies back sarcastically.
I ignore her last comment ,"OH! What about one of those long sleeved dresses that goes like mid-thigh?" I've always wanted one of those dresses, and now just seems like the right time to get one.
"Awe, yeah. That'd be cute!" she says smiling. "What kind of shoes will you get?"
"Probably just some black heels." I say.
"Okay, yeah I can see it." she say giving me the good to go.
After about an hour of looking through shops we finally found the dress that I wanted with some matching back high heels, and now we start off to the food court.
"So, what do you want to eat?" I ask. Ivy and I have ridiculously different food tastes so, we've been getting food that I don't care for at all, but since it is still her birthday week, I have to eat it, it's the rules.
"Um, how about Mongolian Barbeque?" she replies.
"Okay! Finally, something I actually like." I say lightheartedly.
"Shut up." she says while pushing aside into some random stranger.
"Sorry!" I yell back at him and when I turn back around I lightly punch Ivy in the arm.
*Sitting at a table*
While I'm eating I start to panic about tomorrow. What if he doesn't like me? Or thinks I'm ugly? Or just completely ignores me? I mean i don't think I can handle any of that. That would literally ruin my life. I wouldn't be able to listen to Bring Me the Horizon anymore because Oli would hate me, and that's all I'd be thinking about. I'd have to tear down half of the posters on my wall and get new on-
"Hey, what's wrong?" Ivy asks worriedly, breaking me from my thoughts.
"Do you think Oli will like me?" I ask, while taking my eyes down to my food.
Ivy gives me a pitying look, "Dakota, everybody who meets you loves you. I'm sure he will too. Just don't act weird" she says while laughing.
I show her a small smile, "Okay, you're right."
"And if anything goes wrong just come and hang out with me. I won't be with Oli all night." she recommends.
"Thanks. What other bands will be there?" I ask. Kind of not wanting to know the answer because I'll probably just start freaking some more.
"Um, just Of Mice and Men and A Day to Remember." she answers while waving her hand off as if it's nothing.
I nearly choke on my food. That was definitely a surprise. "Are you serious?" I say more than ask.
"Deadly," she replies with a sinister expression.
On our way home I text Hunter instructing him to bring Ivy's car over tonight at 12:00 a.m. On the day before our birthday's we stay up until 12 and then have cake around 12:15. We've been doing this for the three years we've been friends, and we even do it for Hunter's birthday, except a lot more people show up for his "little" get together.

12:00 A.M.
I hear a knock on our door and quickly shoot up "I'll get it!" I shout to Ivy while running to the front door. I open the door and see Hunter leaning against the door frame. God, he's cute. I start to stare at him admiringly. Hunter has these amazing tattoo's covering his arms, blonde hair that he slicks back, brown eyes, and is roughly 6'2''. My type of guy. Apparently I've been staring at him a little too long because I hear him clear his throat to break the silence.
"Oh, sorry, I'm just tired." I say unconvincingly. "Thanks for bringing it over, it means a lot." I tell him, changing the subject.
"No problem. Is she here?" he asks hopefully. Hunter and Ivy have had a thing going on for forever and neither of them have done anything about it and it's getting pretty annoying, and because they like each other I can't do anything about my feelings I have for Hunter.
"Yeah, she is" I answer, trying to hide my annoyance. "HEY IVY COME HERE!" I yell as loud as I can, and I see Hunter give me a quizzical look and I just roll my eyes. Goodness gracious, I really need to stop being so jealous.
Ivy comes skipping up and as soon as she lays eyes on Hunter she runs into his arms. "Hey Hunter!" she says excitedly. I roll my eyes once again. Good thing it's dark outside or I'd be in deep trouble.
"Alright, alright enough sappiness," I tell them "Ivy we have a surprise for you. Hunter, cover her eyes." I say to him, and he does so happily.
Ivy starts singing "I'm so excited" by the Pointer Sisters, "I'm so excited. I just can't hide it. I'm gonna loose control, and I think I like it!"
Hunter and I walk her around to the driveway and once we get in full view of her car we shout out in unison "Okay, here it is!!" Hunter takes his hands off of Ivy's eyes and she sees her new (well, new to her), very impressive, 1967 Chevy Impala. "OH.MY.GOD!" she bellows, "This is so fucking cool!" She full on sprints to the car and goes to drivers side and opens the door. While she is looking at everything inside Hunter and I watch from afar like were parents giving our kid a car for their 16th birthday, and really it's not that much different except that my husband has a crush on our daughter. I start laughing to myself. I get taken out of my thoughts by Hunter's voice,
"It was really nice for you to do this, Dakota." I can't really see him since it's so dark outside, but I see that he's smiling.
"Yeah, well, she definitely deserves it. I mean she's out best friend, she's amazing." I add pridefully.
Hunter was about to say something else, but Ivy starts sprinting towards us and tackles us to the ground. Good thing thing we have grass, I think to myself.
"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you so much!" I can practically hear the smile that's on her face.
Hunter and I start laughing and in unison we say "You're very welcome," and then I add, "we love you so much, you deserve it." Ivy looks at me and starts crying and hugs us both even tighter, and while us three are laying there on the grass laughing and crying I can't help but be grateful for this little family we have. Even though it can be dysfunctional at times, it's prefect, and I wouldn't trade it for a thing.
*Author's note*
