Chapter 1

Claire's P.O.V.

As I wake up I can feel Shane's warm body next to mine. Slowly opening my heavy eyelids I see him looking at me affectionately with the warm secret smile that I love. Reluctantly I pull my eyes from his and glance at the alarm clock, "dammit Shane why didn't you wake me up," I asked him exasperation creeping into my voice, "I'm going to be late for classes!"

" You could skip classes today and stay here with me," he replied pleadingly pulling me in closer so I was severely tempted. How did I not see this coming? This happens every time he has a day off.

"You know I have to go in, plus I have an exam today, Myrnin will kill me if I miss this one." I said gently pushing him off me.

"Myrnin always ruins everything" he said beginning to raise his voice.

"You know how much my education means to me and Amalie has already had to rearrange one exam for me, I can't miss this one as well," I replied getting out of bed and trying to tame my wild hair.

"Yeah ok," he muttered as I pulled on my jeans and made for the door.

I had the quickest shower on record and grabbed some toast from Eve's plate on the way out the door.

"Hay," Eve called after me indignantly.
