Morganville Vampires: New Mayor

Chapter 8

Claire's P.O.V.

I dragged Shane out of bed and downstairs to the living room and pushed him on the sofa whilst I went to the kitchen to get pens paper and glitter.

"I am not putting glitter on the posters," Shane warned as I placed them down on the coffee table.

"Why not?" I asked, "there's nothing wrong with a bit of sparkle!"

"There is everything wrong with a bit of sparkle when it's on a poster of me!" He replied making his way to the computer and searching through his pictures. He printed out some pictures of himself and we started sticking them on sugar paper with the caption 'Shane Collins for Mayor of Morganville!'

At that moment a hole appeared in the wall and Myrnin my boss walked through.

"Claire, have you seen my bunny slippers?" he asked, "I can't find them anywhere!"

"Myrnin, how many times do I have to tell you? You have to tell me before you just walk through our wall!" I said exasperatedly.

"Yeah Count Crackula, we could have been doing anything in here!" Shane exclaimed as I shot him a warning look.

Great, Myrnin had lost his bunny slippers again, and as always it was my job to find them.

"So Claire," he asked ignoring Shane's comment,"have you seen them?"

"I'm your apprentice not your housekeeper," I said angrily, "of course I haven't seen them!"

"She's not you slave Myrnin, and she shouldn't be treated like one!" Shane said annoyed at the way Myrnin spoke to me.

"Shane it's fine just leave it, why don't you start making us some lunch for later?" I said trying to defuse the situation, "Myrnin I'll go to the lab with you to find them under one condition, I get to come straight back here when we do find them,"

"Claire it's your day off, you don't have to go..." Shane protested with a pleading look in his eyes.

"It's fine, I'll be back before you make lunch, you could do the chilli dogs again," I promised, with an apologetic smile.

"You better be, I'll be waiting."

"Ok ok enough, Claire lets go. Bob gets really inpatient these days, and he won't want to wait any longer," Myrnin explained, as we stepped into the portal leading to his lab.
