That night, I got no sleep. I was a bit down for the next weeks, and sleep deprived. I hadn't got much sleep that week. Then one morning, I woke to Grace shaking me.
"What's going on?" I asked getting up.
"Chiron has a problem, and he needs a quest." She said turning around, so I could get dressed.
"What's that got to do with me?"
"You're probs gonna be on the quest. Are you ready?"
"Yeah. Let's go." I sighed.
We walked to the big house in silence. Once inside, I see Ophelia, Heaven and Chiron sitting on the couch chatting. Well Chiron was in his wheelchair, but anyway.
"Ah, Meg, good of you to join us." Chiron said. "I was informing the others about the quest Ophelia will be leading."
When I didn't say anything he continued.
"Which I'd happening because the world is going to be destroyed. Well, put into a doomsday."
"What?" I asked.
"Ophelia, could you please consult the oracle." Chiron asked.
"Yep." She said getting up.
Ophelia's POV:
I walked to the stairs. I had never done this before. And it was kinda scary. As I climbed the stairs, I thought of every bad quest I could get. I reached the door, turned the handle, and pushed. It's a pull door. I made my way down to the decrepit mummy, looking around as I did. Glass jars filled the room, full of things from past quests. 'Manticore skull, 1965' or 'hydra foot, 1867.'
"Dam that thing is old." I whispered to myself.
I made it to the oracle.
"O great Oracle of Delphi, please give me a quest." I said in a loud voice.
Green smoke pooled out of the mummy, like pooled. A raspy female voice spoke.
                                                                                                   4 must leave
                                                                                                   3 shall come
1 must join against all odds
1 will perish at the hand of a god
You shall be betrayed by a lover
You'll save what they need need in the end
But one will feel the curse of the dead.
"Great." I said.
I briskly walked back to the others, and reported to them.
"What did it say?" Chiron asked.
"4 must leave, 3 shall come,1 must join against all odds, 1 will perish by the hand of a god and you'll save what they need in the end." I replied.
"Is that all?" He asked.
I nodded, not trusting myself to speak.
"Ok, you should leave right away." He said.
Meg's POV:
We were standing next to Thalias pine tree. We had packed backpacks with all of the supplied we needed. I had brought some food, a water bottle, light blanket and clothes. We had changed from camp clothes, to casual clothes. Chiron bid us farewell, and we set off. We walked for a bit. In complete silence. I realise now we walked a lot in silence.
"It didn't rhyme." Grace said.
"What?" I asked.
"The quest, there was no rhyme, and it didn't make sense, like, it was too simple. There wasn't enough." She said.
"You're right. I skipped 2 lines." Ophelia said.
"Well, what were they?" Heaven asked.
"Between the perish line and save line, there was 'you'll be betrayed by a lover,' and the last line was 'but one will feel the curse of the dead." She replied, look at the ground.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked.
"Honesty, I don't know." Ophelia sighed.
"Well, what's the plan, leader?" Grace asked.
"Well, the reason the world is ending is most likely because of hades, so we go to the underworld and bargain." Ophelia replied confidently.
"Bargin? With Hades?" I said.
Ophelia nodded.
"Are you crazy?!" I exclaimed.
"Well he is my dad." She said.
"And? You do realise that Hades is well known for his bargains, and spoiler, they never, never, end in your favour." I said.
"Ok, if you 2 ever stop arguing, we need to figure out a plan to get to Los Angeles." Grace said to us.
"Los Angeles?" I asked.
"Yeah, Los Angele, that's where the entrance to the underworld is, duh." Grace said.
"Oh, right, duh." I said sarcastically while hitting my forehead with my palm.
That got a laugh out of us.
"Guys, if we're going to the underworld, how do we get past Cerbie?" Heaven asked.
"Cerbie? You mean Cerberus." Ophelia said.
"Oh, let her call it what she wants." I said to her.
And received a punch to the stomach.
"Guys, we should probably set up camp." Grace said.
I looked at the sky. It was almost night.
"We've been walking for that long?" Heaven asked.
We found a good spot under the trees and set up. Literally just threw down our blankets and found a few logs to sit on. And Grace started to set up a fire.
"GRACE! No fire." Ophelia scolded.
"Whyyyy?" She whined.
"It's like saying to the monsters 'hey, look, we're yummy treats that need to be eaten! Come eat us please!'" She replied.
"UUUGGGHHH! You guys are no fun!" She groaned.
She then grabbed a mirror out of her bag.
"UGH! All this walking has ruined my hair!" She cried.
"Your hair is fine!" Heaven hissed.
"No it ISN'T!" Grace shot back.
She continued to grab a hairbrush and brush her hair furiously.
"Did you bring anything other than beauty products?" I asked grace, dumbfounded.
"Yes, I did actually." She then grabbed 4 oat bars, 4 mandarins and four apples, and handed them out, not throwing them.
I didn't realise how hungry I was.
"What do we do in the morning?" Heaven asked Ophelia.
"We keep moving, and hopefully find a town." She replied.
We then went to bed. I had a rock stabbing me in the back the whole night. And I was too lazy to move it. Very uncomfortable. Do not recommend. I did sleep though, and thankfully I had no dreams.
