• Zoe POV •
It's been two long years since my daughter vanished without a trace. Each day stretches into eternity, filled with a haunting silence that echoes her absence. I wake up every morning hoping today will be the day I hear her laughter again, the day I can hold her in my arms and tell her how much I've missed her.
People say to stay hopeful, but it gets harder as time goes on. I cling to memories, replaying our last moments together like a cherished song, desperately trying to find some clue, some sign that she's out there.
The world keeps turning, but I feel stuck in place, waiting for something to change. I can't help but wonder if she thinks of me too. Does she feel alone? Scared? Does she know I haven't stopped searching for her? Each passing day deepens my despair, yet a flicker of hope still remains, no matter how faint.
Jayce and the guys haven't stopped searching. I'm pretty sure they searched half the world. Jacob, Jayce's brother, hasn't quit looking either. But with them gone, the women had to take over the family business.
Yeah, back in the gang life once again.
Jasmine and I were not thrilled, but we couldn't just let it go to waste.
I replay our conversation that we had moments before she disappeared and everyday I regret it. I should have told Jayce, I should've stopped it.
I'm a terrible mother. I never should have become one.
"Zoe!"
"I'm sorry what?" Snapping me out of my guilty thoughts. I lock my eyes with Jasmine. "Sorry I was..."
"I know, stop it. It's not your fault." She crossed her arms leaning back in the chair in front of my- well Jayce's desk. His office was huge and cocky, like him.
"I never should've done this."
"Done what?" She questions, looking at me with concern.
"Become a mom." A quick laugh escaped my lips as I stared off into space. "Becoming a mom was my greatest mistake. She deserved a better mother."
"God Zoe, you can't-" Jasmine was cut off by the door swinging open.
"Your lives just got better, because we have arrived." Alex storms in with open arms. "Hi baby."
Leaning down to kiss his wife and she gladly accepts it. Nick and Logan follows in not too far behind. Jordan leans against the doorframe with his arms crossed.
"Anything?" Jasmine stands up to give the boys the floor. But they all looked down at the ground feeling, guilty- no shame, maybe both.
I let out a sigh getting up from my seat.
"I need air." I state. "And don't follow me, please."
Before I could walk out Jordan blocks the doorway. My eyes lock with his and for a moment his eyes calmed my nerves. He placed his hands on my shoulders, leaning in to kiss my forehead. I closed my eyes to hold back the tears that threatened to fall.
When he steps to the side, I nearly ran out of the room. I forced my body to quickly make it down the hall. My body collides with something hard. Nearly falling on my ass, arms wrap around my waist.
"You okay beautiful?"
"Jayce." I nearly sobbed, throwing my arms around his neck. "No Im not okay, Jayce."
"It's okay baby, I'm here." He wraps his arms tighter. "I'm here now."
"Zaya is out there somewhere in the world or maybe even dead."Jayce grabs a hold of my shoulders, looking into my eyes. "Jayce, it's been almost two years. We are the fucking Royals, for crying out loud. How the fuck have we not found her yet!"
