Josh's P.O.V
I decide to take my mom's advice about giving Jayna more time. So I decided to just give her some space. It would be hard but I'd manage.
I also decided that this time would be a good time for me to apologize to my friends. For standing them up, not talking to them. You know for doing stuff you don't normally do to your best friends.
I made my way over to their little group. They were all laughing about something, and Trevor slapped Michael on the back.
"Um, hey guys." I pursued my lips together as they looked at me.
Okay, so it might seem like I was doing that thing where people use people. But I wasn't, I'd never do that. I was just so caught up in trying to be Jayna's friend that I forgot about being a friend to my best friends. I genuinely feel bad about what I did.
They all just stare at me in from of them. None of them saying a word to me.
"Listen guys," I start to apologize. "I'm sorry. I really, really am."
They all just continue to stare at me.
"Trevor I'm sorry for being a jerk, Michael I'm sorry for not helping you with your chemistry homework, and Hunter I'm sorry for ditching you the other day. And I'm sorry for not hanging out with you guys. Forgive me?" I close my eyes and wait for their answer.
They all burst out laughing, I open my eyes and allow myself to grin. They all smirk at me.
"Dude, it's alright." Hunter pats me on the back.
"Remember that vow we made it third grade? About being best bros throuh everything." Trevor smiles. "This is just a thing."
"Thanks guys," I scratch my neck awkwardly. "For forgiving me."
"Yeah, yeah. Enough of that mushy shit." He exclaims loudly. "Lets hear about you and Jayna over there-" he gestures behind me.
Do I dare to look?
Of course you do Josh.
I turn aroun to see a frowning Jayna. My heart rate speeds up. She looks worse than she usually does... that wasn't suppose to sound that way.
Her eyes have dark circles around them, and they're all sunken in. It looks like she didn't get any sleep at all last night.
I can't help but wonder if he had anything to do with me?
Wow Josh, self-centered much?
No I am not self-centered... just concerned.
Yea right.
I turn back to my friends before they say something perverted again. Because we all know how teenage boys can be...
Oh who am I kidding, I'm as bad as they are. I just don't say stuff like that out loud.
"So..." Michael urges me to go on.
"Nothing's going." I admit.
Trevor frowned. "Why?"
I look down at the ground. "Shes going through some," I pause searching for the right word, "things." I finish.
"Oh," Hunter says in false realization. "She just got out of a bad relationship?"
I had an urge to glare at him. "Yes," I said sarcastically. "She just got out of a bad relationship." For all I know she could of.
All I know for sure is she doesn't like to talk, and her dad isn't around, and her mom works a lot.
