A couple of days after Thornhill's visit, Wednesday sat on the edge of the fountain, at the outdoor social area of the school. Thing sat beside Wednesday, hiding behind her backpack so as not to catch the attention of the other passing students.

"I haven't been able to talk to either Divina or Yoko yet," Wednesday uttered to Thing, but she looked down at her feet instead of who she was talking to. "My best bet is to persuade Yoko, she seems the most reasonable and biddable target from the two. Additionally, Yoko and Enid seem close."

Wednesday looked over to Thing for his opinion, he simply gave a quick thumbs up. She looked away. Then she looked at the students passing by, laughing and chatting away. The girl didn't feel bothered at all by the noise, however she was reminded that Enid has been avoiding her these past couple of days. It wasn't Enid's absence that irritated Wednesday, but her quietness about what happened earlier that week. Wednesday hadn't stopped thinking about that incident, she couldn't, regardless of how much she wanted to.

The severed hand subtly moved towards Wednesday, tapping her arm to catch her attention. When Wednesday turned to him, Thing started signing at her, trying to communicate.

"Yes. I'm fine, Thing." Wednesday looked uneasy, and Thing could sense that.

They never struggled to communicate with each other, Wednesday learned basic American Sign Language since she was five years old just to be able to speak to Thing. But no matter how many languages Wednesday learned, she never truly learned how to honestly communicate her feelings with anyone close to her, or even to herself.

"Well, if it isn't Miss Oleander," Bianca said as she approached Wednesday. "What are you doing out here alone?"

"Ah, Bianca." Wednesday glanced at Thing, and he quickly hid inside her black backpack. "I'm just... pondering."

Bianca dryly chuckled, unsurprised by her answer. "Pondering? Wednesday, you look sad sitting here by yourself. You know, I could keep you company."

The shorter girl's eyes looked up to meet the taller girl's gaze. She was once more greeted by her bright, mesmerising eyes.

"I appreciate your worries, but I know you have better things to do. I wouldn't want you to waste your time here."

The taller girl sighed, swiftly glancing away. "Actually, I don't really have anything else to do. I wouldn't mind sitting here for a while."

"Okay, then." Wednesday pulled her backpack closer to her, ensuring Thing wasn't going anywhere.

The taller girl sat beside Wednesday, the opposite side of where her backpack sat. Bianca didn't look at her as she sat down, instead she shifted slightly away from her.

"How's your week so far?" Bianca asked, trying to make small talk.

Wednesday stayed silent for a beat, thinking about her answer. "It's been interesting."

"Oh, yeah? What was so interesting?"

"Meeting you was definitely interesting," Wednesday said, evoking a small laugh from Bianca. "You have kept botanical sciences interesting. If it wasn't for you, I would've dreaded going there every morning."

"How so?" Bianca asked.

Wednesday decided in her mind whether to tell her about her suspicions on Thornhill. As she stared at Bianca, who looked back at her with interest, she decided to keep quiet.

"I'm not a big fan of Xavier," Wednesday replied.

Bianca nodded in agreement. "Me neither. He's a major asshole."
