(Dr. Voss's Office, Late Evening)
Dr. Voss reviewed the latest lab reports, her expression tightening. Skylar's powers continued to grow, and Elysia's loyalty began to waver.
"Elysia," Dr. Voss called, her voice firm.
Elysia entered, her eyes cautious. "Dr. Voss?"
"We need to discuss Skylar's progress. Her abilities are becoming increasingly unstable."
Elysia hesitated. "Perhaps it's time to reevaluate our approach, Dr. Voss. The military's involvement—"
Dr. Voss's gaze cut her off. "We can't afford to show weakness, Elysia. The military will exploit any vulnerability."
Elysia's voice took on a subtle edge. "And what about Skylar's well-being? We're pushing her to the limit."
Dr. Voss's mask slipped, revealing a glimpse of concern. "I know what's at stake, Elysia. But we can't stop now."
As Elysia left, Dr. Voss's thoughts turned to General Kramer's looming deadline.
_Hidden Agenda_
Dr. Voss activated her secure comms device, contacting an unknown ally.
"Kramer's getting impatient. We need to accelerate the timeline."
The ally's voice was distorted. "Agreed. But Elysia's becoming a liability. Handle her before she compromises everything."
Dr. Voss's eyes narrowed. "I'll take care of Elysia. Focus on preparing the extraction team."
The line went dark.
_Cracks in the Facade_
Skylar, sensing Elysia's unease, approached her in the lab.
"Elysia, what's wrong?"
Elysia's expression softened. "Just worried about you, Skylar. We need to be careful."
Skylar's eyes locked onto Elysia's. "I trust you, Elysia. But Dr. Voss... sometimes I wonder if she's really helping me."
Elysia's gaze faltered, and for an instant, Skylar saw a glimmer of doubt.
