In the darkness, Chu Yunsheng held his breath. The growls of the monsters outside grew louder, their footsteps heavy, shaking the ground with every step. Inside his room, the air felt thick, almost as if time itself had slowed. The monstrous creature was approaching his building, its enormous shadow cast over the street, an oppressive force that seemed to choke out all hope.

Gripping the activated talisman tightly, Chu Yunsheng braced himself. He knew he didn't have the strength to face these creatures, but he had to hold on, to find any opportunity to either escape or fight back. He was waiting for the moment foretold in the ancient book—the moment when the celestial paths would fully align and perhaps grant him the power the book had promised.

Then, just as the creature closed in, something strange happened. The massive monster suddenly halted, as though sensing something in the air. Through the gap in the window, Chu Yunsheng saw the beast's burning red eyes flicker with confusion and unease. It let out a low, guttural growl before lifting its head, its posture tense. Slowly, it began to back away.

"What's happening?" Chu Yunsheng wondered, astonished. The monster had been so close, and yet, it was now retreating. Why?

At that moment, a faint tremor rippled through the air—a subtle, invisible energy that washed over the street. Chu Yunsheng's talisman grew warm in his hand, pulsing with an almost familiar sensation. He recognized this—it was the flow of celestial energy, the same power he had felt during his meditations.

The monster let out another furious roar, but it was no longer advancing. Instead, it turned and retreated into the shadows, moving quickly as if fleeing from an unseen threat. The atmosphere remained heavy, as though a silent battle was being waged in the air, and Chu Yunsheng was merely a spectator to forces far greater than himself.

Standing by the window, he was filled with a mixture of confusion and awe. What force had caused the monstrous creature to retreat? Was it the awakening of the celestial energy, or was there an even greater presence in play—something from another dimension that even the monsters feared? It was all beyond his comprehension.

However, Chu Yunsheng quickly realized that this was an opportunity. The retreat of the monster gave him more time to continue exploring the powers of the ancient book, to prepare for whatever greater challenge lay ahead. He couldn't rely on luck or coincidence anymore. The next time the monsters came, they might not retreat so easily.

Without wasting any more time, he tucked away the talisman and sat back down on the floor. Taking a deep breath, he resumed his attempts to cultivate the celestial energy. Whatever had driven the monsters away, Chu Yunsheng knew that only by mastering the power of the ancient book could he truly protect himself and survive this dark era.
