Kabir's POV

Being a cardiac surgeon is not easy. In the past few years, people's heart problems have increased. Unfortunately I get 2-3 new heart problem patients everyday and as a human being, it is very disheartening to inform people about their condition and watch their faces pale.

Initially, I wanted to be a GS but after I worked as a intern at a hospital and assisted senior doctors of almost all the departments. As I assisted a few Cardiac surgeons in different types of surgeries, it made me realize that it was a rather very beautiful and peaceful thing to watch a person's  heart beat normally and healthily after being operated on. Dr. Rehman Qureshi was the senior professor doctor I was assisting in the WeCare Hospital.

Once he had operated on a baby who was few months old and was born with a hole in her heart. She was so small and fragile that seeing so many wires attached to her body was painful.

(Flashback Starts)

That was the Third surgery I was allowed to see for observing the procedure. It was an Open Heart surgery, so after the surgery, I stood by the bed staring at the little angel's heart that was beating so fast.

"You can touch it.",  Dr. Qureshi said as he noticed that had been staring at her heart for sometime that I didn't hear him calling me for the first 2 times. For the first time in my 25 years of life, my hands were shivering as I gently touched her heart for fraction of  second.

I felt something in my body the moment. A sensation of relief, panic, nervous, excitement and so much more than I will ever be able to explain and in that moment I knew what I wanted to do all my life. The feeling you get after knowing that you saved an innocent's life is so surreal.

"I want to pursue CS.",  I told Dr. Qureshi. It would till date be my quickest decision that I'd never regret. He passed me a gentle smile and walked out of the OT. The little angel made it through safely and I couldn't be anymore happy.

Soon weeks later, she was discharged from the hospital and declared completely healthy and fit. Her parents were asked to make sure she is fed properly, takes her medicines on time and rests as much as she can that would help in healing faster.

(Flashback Ends)

"Sir, next patient is here", "Send her in.",  The nurse sent in this cute little angel who made me take the best decision of my life. I agree, being CS is difficult but it is worth it.

"Hi Doctor Uncle", She waved at me and passed me a bright cute smile.

"Again Uncle, how many times do I have to tell you to call me bhaiya?", I passed her a playful angry look to which she giggled.

"How is little Adhira doing?", I asked as I looked through the reports of her latest tests, which seemed fine.

"I am doing fine but you know it hurts here a little sometimes ", She said as she pointed at her chest. I looked at her mother who looked at me and just nodded in approval of what her daughter said.

"She has been complaining of pain since a month now but since she said it was little so I didn't bother much but now she is complaining often so I brought her.", Her mother stated clearly worried and concern.

"Her reports seem fine. Has she been taking the medicines I prescribed earlier?"

"Yes regularly."

"Then maybe it is because of the medicines. I'll give her another ones, take them for a week and let me know."

"Will it stop paining here?", Adhira asked as she looked me innocently.
