it was funny how things changed over time, like the way haechan had been moved next to m/n in chemistry class two years ago. it was random, a shuffle of seats after some students were too noisy. and just like that, m/n was suddenly next to haechan — full of laughter, too many jokes, and energy that was contagious.sometimes, it was weird to think about how long he had known haechan now. there was no way he could’ve predicted that he’d grow so close to haechan. m/n barely even knew him back then, apart from his name and the fact he was always making people laugh. and now?
he couldn’t imagine chemistry without haechan.
haechan leaned over, bumping his shoulder into m/n’s. "hey, did you hear that?" his voice pulled m/n out of his thoughts, and he looked at haechan, confused.
"huh?"
"the teacher just said there's an exam worth 30% of our final grade. we need to study!" haechan said, pointing toward the front where the teacher was still explaining the details.
m/n felt his eyes widen lightly, but there was a slight smirk on haechan’s face. m/n knew that look — haechan was probably already plotting something.
"30%?" m/n whispered back. "when is it?"
"next week." haechan shrugged like it was no big deal. but m/n knew him. it was a big deal. "we should study together." he added casually. "at my place."
"your place?"
"yeah." haechan said, leaning back in his chair. "unless you don’t trust my chemistry skills."
did he trust haechan’s chemistry skills? rhetorical. did he even trust his own skills around haechan? also rhetorical.
m/n agreed to the study session, and the rest of the day went by too quickly for m/n’s liking. before he knew it, he was at haechan’s place.
his room was — well, it was very haechan. slightly messy, posters on the wall, a guitar leaning in the corner. it felt personal. but haechan was completely relaxed, throwing his bag on the floor and flopping onto his bed.
"make yourself comfortable!" haechan said, smiling up at m/n.
m/n sat on the edge of the bed, trying not to think too much. but it was impossible. they hadn’t even started studying yet, and he could already sense that this wasn’t going to be as productive as they’d planned.
