Ballet

Weeks in

As the weeks went by of us practicing, it was time to start putting it all together on stage. Once in the outfits for the stage, we both got into the center, in our starting positions. As we danced I would catch glares from Lillian, it was awkward but last I heard her and Jarrald broke up, which is probably why she's glaring. I notice the ballet teacher shooting glares at Lillian, giving her a look of thanks, and then refocused on Jarrald. His eyes are such a beautiful hazel color, with multiple specs of a lovely pine green. I remember how soft his lips were and my face reddens. Soon I realize we were dancing the ending, so he swoops me up into the air for a moment, twirling me, and then brings me back down as we spin slower and slower, until we are at a full stop. Then my favorite part, we kissed again, and then, next thing I knew there was some yelling, Lillian's name I think- and then I was on the ground... Lillian was in Jarrald's arms, and then everything was dark.

I woke up on the rest bed in the nurse's office of the ballet studio. According to Jarrald, I had hit my head pretty hard after Lillian shoved me to the ground in a jealous outrage. The doctor said I was allowed to perform in the performance next week. Mrs. Sheen told me that Lillian was removed from the ballet group, and will not be allowed with this ballet building ever again.

"That's good to hear Mrs. Sheen"

"Mhm...I'll leave you and Jarrald alone to...chat."

"Oh- okay-"

There's an awkward silence after Mrs. Sheen walks out, and then I pat a spot next to me on the hospital bed.

"Want...to sit with me...?"

"Sure"

He sits down next to me and I lean my head on his shoulder with a soft sigh...and then I slowly snuggle up against him, and he doesn't budge. So I stayed there, all snuggled up against him. I shut my eyes slowly...and then fall asleep...
