╹ chapter three / daylightVALERIE STRETCHED out on the couch, her phone resting on her chest as she scrolled aimlessly through instagram. it was one of those lazy afternoons where she wasn't feeling particularly productive, and the silence of the apartment was starting to get to her. the idea of spending the whole day alone didn't sit right, so she grabbed her phone and opened her group chat.

FUCK YEAH IT ISSSSSvalerie smiled, feeling the warmth that always came with knowing her friends were just a text away. even on the slowest days, they could turn things around. the group chat continued buzzing with playful banter and suggestions for what to do during the sleepover—movies, snacks, maybe even a little impromptu music jam.
about an hour later, the doorbell rang, and valerie hopped off the couch, swinging the door open to find gracie standing there with a giant bag slung over her shoulder.
"sleepover essentials," gracie said with a grin, stepping inside. "i brought snacks and... well, more snacks."
valerie laughed, taking the bag from her. "perfect. just what we need."
soon after, olivia showed up, arms full of takeout bags. "i figured we could use some real food before we dive into all the sugar," she said, setting the bags on the kitchen counter.
conan and sabrina arrived together not long after, both carrying bags of chips, popcorn, and a few random things they'd picked up along the way.
"we went overboard," conan said, tossing a bag of popcorn on the couch, "but can you ever have too much?"
"never," sabrina added, grinning.
the apartment quickly filled with the sound of laughter and chatter as everyone settled in, spreading out across the living room floor with blankets and pillows. valerie's quiet, uneventful day had turned into something full of life, and she couldn't have been happier about it.
as the night unfolded, they all ate, shared stories, and picked out a few nostalgic movies to watch. at one point, olivia suggested they pull out their guitars and mess around with some song ideas, and soon, the living room was filled with music, laughter spilling between chords.
"okay, hear me out," gracie said, her voice playful, "what if we made the most dramatic breakup song ever, but the twist is... it's about breaking up with pizza?"
everyone burst into laughter, and conan dramatically strummed his guitar. "i'm already feeling the heartbreak."
"this is what happens when you leave songwriters alone for too long," sabrina teased, shaking her head. "we make everything about feelings, even pizza."
"hey, pizza deserves our love too," valerie added, laughing.
they spent the rest of the night bouncing between silly ideas and actually talking about music, but nothing was too serious. it was one of those rare moments where they could all just be themselves, no pressure, no expectations—just friends hanging out, creating memories.
by the time the clock hit 2 a.m., the group had settled into a comfortable silence. valerie leaned back against the couch, looking around at her friends sprawled out on the floor, half-asleep, but still laughing at each other's jokes. there was something so comforting about nights like this, where the outside world faded away, and all that mattered was this shared space with the people who understood her better than anyone else.
"we need to do this more often," conan mumbled, his voice sleepy.
"agreed," olivia said, her head resting on a pile of pillows.
valerie smiled, feeling that familiar warmth of knowing she wasn't alone. she was surrounded by people who got her—people who knew her beyond the stage and the spotlight. and that, more than anything, was the best part of her day.
as the night stretched on and the conversations slowed to a murmur, valerie closed her eyes, the comfort of her friends nearby easing her into sleep. today had started off quietly, but it ended in the best possible way: full of love, laughter, and feeling you belong. just as it should.
