A month has passed since I saw the roaring fire that seemingly burned down the building.
According to my uncle, my father sent out a patrol to find me since I didn't leave the forest on the deadline, and they found me in the forest passed out in a tree.
The terrible fire I saw that day was just a dream, and I didn't have the Shadow Dragons curse. It was just some horrible nightmare. My question was how did I know what it looked like if I never had it?
The good news is that I'm officially a hunter and I am starting out as a Hikida meaning I can lead patrols and take part in them.
Now to remind me of those horrible two months was a large scar and a new nickname that my cousins came up with. "Forest Child."
But today is a good day. For it is the last day of the month. On the last day of every month we have a meeting with the royals to report and discuss the dragons we hunted each month.
I was able to attend the meeting, but since this was my first meeting I was nervous. My uncle led those who were attending to the castle.
My father left a few hours earlier so he could set up the meeting room and so he could tell the royals about the schedule.
As we approached the castle I felt my jaw drop at its beauty. There was blue decorated along the flags with some yellow that looked like gold. Some white also mixed in which looked like fresh snow.
As we walked up the stairs we saw some guards standing by as if waiting for a threat to happen, but they didn't seem like a issue to us.
My cousin Jackora was also attending and she stood by me. She leaned over and began to whisper into my ear.
"The younger kids like meeting new people, so if they ask you to play or go with them do it no questions asked or else. The older kids hate if when you act powerful because your a hunter. Only if you're a Zorian are you allowed to act snobby."
She knew quite a lot about these meetings but she has gone to two and she was a Wakila already. The large doors that stood in front of us soon opened revealing a large hallway with a blood red carpet and a few expensive items.
We entered the castle and we soon began to head down the hallway. On the wall to the right there were paintings of dragons and a few with dragon hunters shaking hands with a king or queen.
On the left wall there were paintings of each generation of the royal family. On the last portrait was the current family, and there were eight kids and the king and queen.
However the kid that stood out most to me what a pretty blonde one with icy blue eyes and a serious face. When I finally snapped my attention away from the painting I saw my family was gone.
They must've went on when I got distracted. I began to look around for them and maybe the meeting room.
When I turned a corner I turned to run away. I was pretty dumb actually. They could've helped me but I ran thinking that if they saw me they would've saw me as an intruder despite the uniform I was wearing.
I continued to run until I ran into someone. My head began to throb and my eyes closed out of pain. I soon opened my eyes despite feeling a bit dizzy and nauseous.
I saw a beautiful white dress the color of the clouds and blue ribbons that matched water with some cold trimmings on the bottom.
The dress belonged to someone in the royal family and on instinct I got up and bowed mortified about my mistake.
"Your highness, I deeply apologize for running into you. I swear it was an accident I was just looking for the meeting room."
Before I could say anymore I heard the royal snap their fingers. I looked up from the bow and saw it was the girl from the portrait. "I'm assuming you're new because I've never seen you before."
