Chapter Four: Sleep

Eren woke up with a jolt. Heavy breathing, panting, Eren gripped the sheets of the bed.

Fuck.

He inhaled deeply trying to calm himself. Sleeping with something holding him down wasn't going good. He felt like he was being suffocated twenty four seven.

A small sound made Eren sit up and look.

Levi.

He was sitting there with such delicacy. A book in his hand, as he crossed his legs. He was reading(key word "was") but then the heavy breathing and small whimpers from Eren made him look up.

Levi watched. Eren's breathing got quicker. Levi shifted and turned to face Eren fully. He leaned forward resting his elbows on his knees.

"You okay Jeager?"

Eren swallowed and nodded.

"Yes sir, sorry."

Levi let out a small breath. "Nothing to apologize for Jeager, go back to sleep."

Eren blinked and looked up, no windows. Eren looked back at Levi.

"Aren't you going to sleep?"

Levi blinked. "Go to sleep."

Eren shifted. His eyes entirely on Levi. He raised a brow and the chains jungled as he shifted.

"You need sleep too."

Levi sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "Go to sleep Eren."

Eren shook his head. "But you need sleep too Heichou."

Fuck.

Eren was gonna kill him. Why'd he have to sound so beautiful when he said "Captain"? Damnit. Levi sighed and crossed his arms.

"I have to watch you, Eren. I can't sleep." Levi's voice rang out, sounding so..

Eren blinked, and shook his head. He licked his lips. (Levi wanted to lick them for him.)

Eren swallowed and cleared his throat feeling his face flush in embarrassment. "I'm sorry you have to watch me."

Levi's restraint was thinning. He cleared his throat, trying to clear his mind. "It's just a safety measure."

Eren let out a small sigh. It shouldn't have to be a safety measure. Eren shifted again. "I'm sorry, that I'm disturbing your sleep."

Levi shook his head. "You're not disturbing my sleep, I don't sleep."

Eren raised an eyebrow. Interest peaked. Danmit, why'd he'd go and tell the damn brat he didn't sleep?

"Why don't you sleep, Captain?"

Levi bit back a scowl. Stupid brat. Levi leaned back in his chair, looking at Eren through the bars of the cell.

"I just don't. Now go to sleep." Please.

Eren let out a soft sound of discomfort and shifted. The chains were practically digging into his skin. Levi moved in a swift motion.

"What is it?"

Eren looked up and watched as Levi opened the cell door, making his way inside.

"The chains..they're tight." Eren tried his best not to stare.

Levi moved closer, standing next to the bed. He gently grabbed Eren's forearm, and unlocked the cuff around his wrist. He paused and looked at him.

"I'll be right back, don't move."

Eren nodded and watched Levi walk out the cell and turn down the hall.

Levi came back a few moments later- Eren hadn't moved a muscle. His wrist was still in the air. Levi bit back a small laugh. He walked and grabbed Eren's forearm, again.

He moved and squeezed some cream from a tube. His rough hands gently rubbed the cream in Eren's skin at his wrist.

Eren watched closely, eyes tracking every movement. Levi swallowed and pressed his thumb against the pulse point on his wrist, feeling the heartbeat.

Thump.

Thump.

It was quick. Levi's gaze flickered to Eren's eyes, the green eyes met his. He looked away and moved to grab Eren's other wrist. He pulled the cuff off after unlocking it.

He began the same process smoothing the cool cream along the boys wrist. Eren's breathing had slowed but came out in small bursts. Levi paid no mind.

When he got done he moved and out the cream on the small dresser besides Eren's make believe bed. Levi moved and grabbed the chair pulling it in the cell. He closed the door, and sat down in the chair.
The chair was maybe a few feet away from Eren's bed.

"Comfortable?" Levi asked.

Eren swallowed and rubbed his wrist, already missing the feeling of his captains rough hands.

"Yes sir."

Levi nodded and crossed his legs. "Sleep."

Eren parted his lips but decided not to speak. He turned and laid down, facing his captain.

"Goodnight Heichou."

Levi inhaled deeply and watched the brat close his eyes.

"Night Eren."
