Ray could feel himself getting nervous sitting next to Raven but before he could start to think why his teacher started class.
"Ok everyone as you all can tell the seats have changed and you are all sitting by someone new. This is a chance to get to know someone new, someone that you might never of talked to prior to this class, I also want to announce the new project I'm going to be trying out,"
*Groans of boredom and annoyance fill the class room*
"Alright alright I know projects aren't really fun but I want you guys to try and make it fun for yourselves. This project will be done with a partner chosen by me but we will get to that later. This project will be about things in your life you and your partner find interesting, that could go from pop culture all the way to Marie Antoinette but never the less I want it to be detailed and interesting, this will be about 70% of your grade and will take up most of the quarter so I want everyone to take their time on this."
"Now for partners I have already chosen them about a week before this and I have purposely sat you next to them."
Ray felt his heart sink. The thought of having to work with Raven didn't make him mad but it made him scared. Thousands of thoughts filled his head about what could go wrong, what he might say that will make him sound stupid or maybe what he would say that would make it sound that he liked Raven, which he didn't or at least that's what he told himself to make himself feel better.
Before Ray could even look over to Raven to try and figure out what he was thinking by the look on his face the teacher continued.
"I now want you to take the rest of the class period to just talk and get to know your partner, talk about what you like and what you don't, maybe even build a connection."
*Awkward silence fills the room* "Uh I guess Ill play some music as you all talk."
*Raven looks at at Ray awkwardly* "Uhh so what do you wanna do..?" Raven asked Ray looking almost flustered.
*Ray looks over to Raven while playing with his fingers nervously trying to not make eye contact* "Well I don't know to be honest... What's a like unpopular opinion you have maybe we could write about that I guess."
*Raven rubs his eyes in confusion* "Uhh I don't really think I have one of those I'm kinda boring I guess.. We could make one about a celebrity's life or something. What are some celebs you like?"
*Raven asks Ray as they make eye contact for the first time* "Thats kinda basic don't you think? lets just do it on like the history of Cheetos or something."
*Ray says trying to make it seem like he doesn't care." "Sure sounds easy enough lets just do that."
*Raven looks at Ray as if he's thinking something or maybe that he wants to till him something*
*Raven moves rays bangs from his eyes without giving it a second thought*
"Your eyes are really cool looking." *Ray just looks at Raven not knowing how to feel about what just happened* "Thanks.. I like your hair, it looks nice today."*Ray says trying to keep the conversation going*
Before Ray could say anything else the bell rang and he just walked out of the class room with the rest of the crowd.
For the rest of the day Raven and Ray thought about their interaction not knowing what to make of it, sometimes making awkward glances at each other In the hall during passing period.
Raven started to open up to the thought of maybe having a crush on ray but quickly tried to think of something else not being fully comfortable with the thought of that.
