After the king left, an awkward silence settled around us and I couldn’t help but fidget. The angels studied me for the briefest of seconds before turning around and walking away without a word to explain their action. I suppose I was expected to follow them but I stayed rooted in place. I could run but that didn’t really work out the last time so I lamely dismissed that thought. Besides, I was in their territory now. Hundreds of vampires were just waiting for the chance to sink their teeth in. The Angels knew it, too which is why they didn’t even bother hauling me along with them.

Sighing, I gave up ad followed the Angels who had slowed their stride due to my hesitation, debating on whether or not I would follow them. Once they heard my footsteps, they continued to lead the way. I just had to find a way to gain their trust and let them think of me as an ally, that I wasn’t going to bolt the first chance I got. I just had to win their hearts, if these foul creatures had any that is. Now, how in the hell was I going to accomplish that? Playing the role as an obedient human was the only plan that was formed at the moment. Me, being my stubborn and easily angered self would probably end up shooting me in the foot, though. Hopefully, i won’t fail.

The Angels took a sharp yet graceful turn into a long hall way and stopped in front of a random door. They swiftly opened it and walked in without even a glance in my direction. For god’s sake, I could be being beaten to a pulp and they wouldn’t even bother to glance back better yet help. Dumb pricks. I had to run to catch up with the vamps and once I did, my mouth dropped to the floor. It was a library, but not those tiny ones with like a shelf full of books you would find in most homes. This was a full-blown library housing two stories of shelves filled to the brim with books. There was an old styled fireplace, which crackled with fire, and a very comfortable looking black couch sprawled before it. Under the couch was another comfortable looking red carpet. The whole room was truly amazing. I’m pretty sure I looked like an amazed child who saw Disneyland for the first time, but oddly I didn’t care.  Someone cleared their throat and I whipped my head to the direction of the sound. My eyes fell upon Lucian with all of his glory. He was leaning casually on one of the many bookshelves with a worn out book in his hands. His eyes met mine as he stated, “This is where your training begins.”

In a flash, he was in front of me and reaching for my throat, his eyes glaring into mine menacingly. I just stood there, dumbstruck, not comprehending with the actions that had enfolded in front of me . My brain finally caught up with the situation and I gripped his hands, trying to pry then away. Not even a flinch. Hell, I had a better chance wrestling a bear and winning. Just then I remembered that he was, indeed, a male. And what do all males have in common? You guessed it. I kicked him where the sun didn’t shine and felt his grip loosen. Bulls eye.

Laughter erupted around me as Lucian flinched and scowled, obviously humiliated at his defeat by a human girl.

“Looks like this girl isn’t as dimwitted as we claimed.” Genesis smirked. I smiled, feeling content with myself. Someone scoffed and I turned to see the arrogant purple-eyed bloodsucker glaring at me.

“Every human girl knows how to do that, it’s basically built into their DNA. She did what any girl would do, big deal. She’s still stupid.”

I bit my tongue and swallowed back my remark. ‘Be nice, Rose. It’s all in the plan.’ I thought, forcing a smile to play at my lips once again.

By this time, Lucian had recovered from being kicked in his jewels and approached me coolly. Haha, idiot.
