I woke up to breakfast in bed - but without Adrian. A handwritten message was on the food tray, which was equipped with French toast, fruit and a still steaming tea.
Printesa mea,
I hope you are rested and that the breakfast is to your wishes.
Unfortunately, I already had to leave for the tournament. I'm sorry I can't take you in person.
Instead, I ordered a live broadcast so that you and the city dwellers can watch without being there directly. It is broadcasted in the TV, the remote control is on the coffee table.
In addition, there is a cell phone there with my number already saved. I'd be happy if you'd write me your opinions and thoughts during the tournament. I can feel you through our bond, but I would like to know the actual thoughts with your feelings.
I'll be back as soon as I can. If it takes too long and you get hungry for lunch, let me know and something will be brought to your room.
Cu dragoste,
Adrian
Moved, I put his message in the drawer of my nightstand. By now I had claimed the right side of the bed for myself. It looked like I would stay here and possibly actually become Adrian's queen.
Shaking my head about this development of my life - which I still could not remember in large parts - I carried the tray to the coffee table. As promised, there was a remote control and a mobile phone.
Hesitantly, I turned on the huge TV, which immediately came to life in a razor-sharp image. Startled, I turned down the volume a bit since a commentator was already shouting all kinds of information.
Apparently the tournament hadn't even started yet, which gave me a little time to change and freshen up.
When I finally made myself comfortable on the couch, I was able to drink the delicious chamomile tea in one go, since it was now only lukewarm.
The phone suddenly lit up with a message from Adrian Dalca: Are you awake?
Happy that he was thinking of me, I quickly wrote back and thanked him for the breakfast and the live broadcast of the tournament.
As it seemed, it was almost ready to start. The commentator, a vampire in a fancy suit, just introduced the participants: Valea Cojocaru, Sorin Antonescu and Cornel Funar.
All three soldiers were dressed up in their uniforms, Valea with a braided, hazelnut-brown ponytail, Sorin had short-shaven, red hair, and Cornel wore his white, shoulder-length hair open.
Valea was just as well-trained as the two men, but probably about a head smaller. How she had made it so far in her military career was indeed remarkable.
Smiling, I wrote exactly that to Adrian. He had asked me for my opinion after all.
The participants stood in front of a huge grandstand, in which not a single seat seemed to be free. Everything was stuffed with spectators, both soldiers and townspeople.
In the middle of the grandstand there was a specially separated area with only a few seats and covered by a dome.
There Adrian sat on a simple but beautifully decorated throne made of wood as it seemed. There was an animal fur on it, so you couldn't really see it well.
To his left, Lucien sat on a much smaller wooden chair, without ornaments and only with a cushion instead of fur.
To the right of Adrian stood an empty, slightly smaller throne with also beautiful ornaments and a cuddly fur that looked suspiciously like wolverine fur.
