Part 16: promise?

We have been sat here waiting for this mysterious women to wake up, I'm sat on Daryl's knee as he won't let me near her. "Daryl do you think you could find me nail polish the next time you go out in a run?" I turn to Daryl, he looks at me for a while "sure bug".

Finally the women started to open her eyes and Rick rushed over to her "we can tend to that wound for you" Hershel reassured, she just stared at us all blankly and said nothing at all "well give you a little food and water then we'll send you in your way" Rick ordered.

"But you're gonna have to tell us how you found us.....and why you were carrying formula" Rick questioned, she stayed silent for a moment like she was debating wether to tell us "the supplies were dropped by a young Asian guy with a pretty girl" she said bluntly. Everyone started to look at each other with concerned looks "do you think there okey" I wisper to Daryl "yes of course they are" he replies ruffling my hair.

"What happened?" Rick asks her in panic "they were attacked" Rick adds on "they were taken" she replied calmly. "Taken? By who?" I ask but Daryl nudges me back "by the same son of a bitch that shot me" she said in anger, "hey these are our people tell us what happened now!" Rick starts to get irritated.

She yanks her arm out of Ricks grip "don't you ever touch me again!" She shouts "you'd better start talkin'" Daryl butts in "find 'em yourself" she rolls her eyes. "There's a town. Woodbury. About 75 survivors. I think they were taken there" she explains to them.

Everyone just looks at each other confused.

Woodbury?

"A whole town?" Rick questions.

"It's run by this guy who calls himself the governor— pretty boy, charming, Jim jones type." She continues "he got muscle" I ask smiling, Daryl slaps me "really Ava your only 8" I roll my eyes in response.

Eventually they decided to go for Maggie and Glenn with the women leading them there, Daryl kneels down to my level "Ava I'm going with them okey? You be good and stay with carol" he says firmly, I nod "you'll come back though right?" It was silent for a moment "yes I will come back! When do I never" he responds "promise?" I asked that because I'm scared to be left alone he's the only person that understands me "I promise" he says back.

I watch as he walks out.

[time skip]

It's been as least 2 hours since they have left and I'm started to getting impatient I'm sat with Judith in the cafeteria area until Carl came in with a group of strangers and locks them in the cell. I stand up and walk over to Carl "uhm who are they" I ask curiously "some randoms I've locked them in there until dad gets back" I just look at them and walk off.

It has been another hour.......or maybe longer and I've been sat in my cell for most the time worrying about Daryl. Then suddenly someone appears in the doorway if my cell.

It's Rick.

I look up and smile "hi uncle Rick" I greeted "where's Daryl?" I question as he would be the first to come. Rick just sat next to me but his face did not tell me anything good "what?".

"Uhm Daryl's not here" I just sit and stare at him not knowing what to do or what to say "w-what you mean he's not here?" It was silent for moments "is- is he coming back?".

Rick looked up at me "uhm we found Merle, he left with him I don't think he's coming back he said merles family" I just felt tears running down my small cheeks do I not matter to him? The words digger in her heart like a knife,the betrayal sank into her mind. The words cut deep into her stomach making tears fall freely from her eyes.

"B-but he promised.....he promised he'd come back" I cry into ricks arms "why did he leave me?" I was endlessly crying ricks arms wondering why he had to leave me "shhhh" Rick hushed me softly to calm my weeps.
