Y/N POV:
I sat in front of Dr. Hill, feeling disoriented. I should have been at the lodge with everyone else, but here I was. Dr. Hill sat behind his desk, offering a familiar smile. "Welcome back, Y/N," he greeted. "I see you decided to return to the lodge."
"Yeah, I did," I replied, clasping my hands together. "I thought maybe this time, some good memories could push out the bad ones."
Dr. Hill placed a ticking clock on the desk, its rhythmic sound filling the room. "How do you feel about being back? Be honest with me."
I took a slow breath before responding, "It's hard. Everywhere I turn, I'm reminded of my sisters."
He nodded, jotting down notes in his journal. "It seems the past isn't as easy to bury as you'd hoped," he observed. "How did it feel seeing your friends again?"
I leaned back in my chair. "Weird. Some of them are the reason the accident happened in the first place," I admitted, sighing. "Emily and Jess... it's ironic, really."
Dr. Hill leaned forward, intrigued. "What's ironic?"
A small chuckle escaped me. "Emily and Jess pulled that prank to get back at my sister for having a crush on Mike, who was Emily's boyfriend at the time. Now, Mike's with Jess." I couldn't help it—laughter bubbled up uncontrollably. "Emily should've been more worried about Jess than anyone else."
Suddenly, the room went silent. "Dr. Hill?" I called out, but there was no response.
I blinked, and when I opened my eyes, I was standing outside the lodge.
Rubbing my temples, I muttered under my breath, "I really need to stop losing track of time."
I started walking along the snow-covered path toward the small cabin where we stored the firewood. The crisp air felt refreshing at first, but as I walked, a sense of unease crept over me. My thoughts were swirling, everything felt off, and suddenly, something darted across my path, making me jump.
It looked like a person, but that couldn't be right. "Am I losing it?" I muttered to myself, glancing around nervously. Trying to shake off the feeling, I kept walking, but my steps grew quicker, turning into a full sprint toward the cabin. Whatever was out there, I didn't want to find out.
I barrelled into the cabin, slamming the door behind me and leaning against it, gasping for breath. The silence was thick, and I stayed completely still, listening, just in case something—or someone—was out there. Once I felt sure the coast was clear, I moved over to a cabinet, rummaging through it.
I found a couple of flares and an old torch. Flicking it on, I scanned the cabin for the firewood only to find the stack completely empty. "Just great," I thought, frustrated. "What am I supposed to do now?"
Suddenly, a loud banging shook the door, and a panicked voice shouted from outside, "Let me in!"
It was Jess, and she sounded terrified. Without thinking, I yanked the door open, and she stumbled inside, collapsing on the floor. I quickly shut the door behind her, locking it tight. That's when I realized she was only wearing her bra and panties, her body trembling and covered in scratches and cuts.
I looked away, uncomfortable. "Jess, what's going on?" I asked, trying to focus on anything but her.
She wrapped her arms around her chest, shaking uncontrollably. "Keep it away," she whispered, her voice trembling with fear.
I quickly shrugged off my jacket and draped it around her. That's when something slammed into the door, hard, accompanied by a screech I knew all too well. My heart pounded as the sound hit me like a brick.
