Morgan sits in his dark living room holding Madison in one arm and his pen in the other. Micheal left on a trip so he had the house too himself.Madison slept soundly in his left arm her head resting on his lap as he tapped his pen. He jotted down some half ass lyrics and put his palm to his forehead.
"I can't think" he whispered to himself. Madison stirred sitting up and looking at him. "What's wrong?" She asked.
"Nothin, just can't think of anything, and Seth said I needed 5 songs by tomorrow""5 songs!? You'll never do that by yourself"
"Doubting me huh?" He teased. Madison sighed walking too his spare bedroom that him and Micheal had turned into a music room. She dug through a box of cds to hopefully find something too listen too.
She settled on At Folsom Prison by Johnny cash. She grabbed a cd player and threw one of the guitar straps over her shoulder before walking downstairs with all of it.
"What's all this?" He asked. "I'm gonna write 2 your gonna write two, and we'll write one together, let's get this done" she blurted plugging the cd player into the wall and popping the cd in. After pressing play she sat the guitar on the couch too walk too the kitchen.
"Whatchu doin?" He asked. "Making it easier on us too write!" She hollered back. After brewing two cups of tea she threw together a snack bowl and walked back to the living room with it.
Morgan smiled thankfully as she flipped the switch on the gas logs. As the warmth filled the atmosphere Madison hopped back on the couch throwing a blanket over her legs and resting her hand on the fretboard of the guitar.
She hummed along too the soft music playing as she thought about lyrics. She stared at the notebook infront of her, the lyrics jumping out at her as she did.
"Some girls like roses and a man sayin sorry by the dozen.."
Morgan nodded along as he jotted down his lyrics.
"I remember Sittin at that house, Livin room couch, thinkin no way them boys wouldn't win..."
As the lyrics floated through their heads they had two songs written in less than an hour. "Yours finished?" Morgan asked staring over her shoulder at the notebook.
"Yeah, yours?"
"Yep, we got time for another one?"
"We have too, these songs have too be done by tomorrow"
Madison sighed taking a swig of her tea and continued writing, she started off her second song, An upbeat breakup song called "Hope That's True"
"I hate that S Class Benz that your so damn proud of, you hate my truck cause you can't climb out of it"
Madison nodded reading her lyrics as Morgan stared intently at his paper. "Shit, where's my dip" he mumbled hopping up from his seat too find it.
"It's in your truck, you left it when we got home" she mumbled quickly before turning back to her paper.
She jotted down the lyrics as fast as possible fearful she might lose it.Morgan returned from his truck, dip can in hand as he put a pinch in his lip. He turned to his paper, his patience wearing thin as his mind went blank. "I had something!" He snapped tossing the pen back down.
"Take a second Morgan, it'll come back" she said calmly. Morgan had a short temper but never towards her, only towards things that went wrong.
Madison effortlessly wrote down a decent verse and turned towards her stressed boyfriend. "You calm now?"
"No, it's already 5:30 and we still have two full songs to do""Shit, already?" She asked frantically checking the time. "Well! Write something!" She shouted shoving the pen back in his hand.
Morgan turned to his paper writing the first thing that came to mind.
"Last night we let the liquor talk, I can't remember everything we said but we said it all"
The sun started to rise with Morgan and Madison frantic to finish these songs. Morgan's eyes drooped shut as his head fell back onto the couch. "Wake up! I need you for this one!" She shouted.
Morgan woke up, startled by her shouts. He checked the time realizing they had 10 minutes to be out the door.
"Throw some clothes on, we gotta go"Madison rushed to his bedroom digging through his drawer to find a pair of Vols sweats. She threw them on along with the crop top she had left here a few weeks ago.
"Okay, I'll finish this you go change" she said frantically grabbing the notebook. Morgan threw on a pair of jeans and his Carhartt jacket and a baseball cap too cover his messy hair.
"Okay, we ready?" He asked. Madison nodded scooping the wrinkled pieces of paper in her arms. Morgan opened the door letting Madison walk out first before locking it and hopping in the truck.
Morgan's eyes concentrated on the road while Madison straightened the papers in a folder. Both of them were sleep deprived and trying to keep each other awake.
Morgan put a pinch of dip in his lip as they pulled in. Madison grabbed the folder and pretty much bursted in the door, Morgan right behind her.
Morgan walked in Seth's office holding Madison behind him as he did. "Here, 5 new songs" Morgan sighed flopping down on Seth's couch pulling Madison down with him.
"What happened to y'all?"
"No sleep, writing all night" Morgan mumbled. "So who wrote what?"
"Well, Madison wrote Hope That's True and Wine Into Water, I wrote 98 Braves and Last Night, and we both wrote Tennessee numbers"
"Cool, I'll see if we can record those soon"
"Props to Madison for dealing with you while writing" Seth joked. "We free too chill at home now?" Morgan asked as if he was forced. "I'm not your mom, go home bro"
That's all it took for Morgan to grab Madison's hand and walk out the door too his truck.
"We're crashing as soon as we get home""For sure" Madison replied slumping over in the passenger. As Morgan pulled into the driveway he smiled at the sight of Madison sleeping soundly in his passenger.
He stepped around and picked her up, brushing her blonde curls out of her face as he carried her inside. After reaching the bedroom he covered her up and curled next too her holding her close to him as he fell asleep.
