Alfred had hidden the most devastating truth from her: he was already dead. His mysterious disappearance had been unsolved until Alexandra found him-his body had been lying near the park by the hill, hidden from sight.
Her best friend Jasper had been the one to reveal the final piece of the puzzle, confirming at the hospital what Alexandra refused to believe-Alfred wasn't real.
She had pieced together the clues, discovering that Thomas Andrews, the soccer captain, had accidentally pushed Alfred off the cliff during a heated argument, he was now arrested for further investigation. The truth unraveled like a painful thread, and Alexandra had been forced to confront reality.
How could she accept that the boy she loved had been nothing more than a memory, a shadow clinging to life?
She heard Alfred's voice calling out to her again, and it went on for days, his voice echoed in her mind, "How are you, my love?" but she refused to turn around to face him. She refused to believe that she was losing her grip on reality.
Alfred's voice echoed again, more persistent this time, "My love? Have you been taking care of yourself?"
With tears streaming down her face, she stood there clutching the keychain in her hand. It was the same one he had given her when he proposed, the proposal that had come out of the blue, the proposal that had changed her life forever.
"Talk to me, please," Alfred pleaded softly, his voice breaking as if he could sense her pain.
"You're not real," she whispered, her voice fragile like glass. "They told me you're gone. They said you're just in my head. Why are you still here?"
Alfred took a step closer, his presence felt like a phantom's warmth, lingering yet fleeting. "I'm here because you're holding on. You haven't let me go."
A cold breeze blew against her, and then she felt a gentle hand on her cheek. It was him. She broke down in tears as he whispered, "I'm sorry," with a weak voice.
"They told me you are just a figment of my imagination, in my head.." she softly whispered to the wind.
Alfred smiled weakly, before leaving a faint kiss on her cheek.
"My love for you was real, wasn't it?" he stared at her eye to eye but this time, his brown eyes weren't full of life and as soulful as their first meeting, they looked very weak and sunken, she knew he was struggling.
Alfred smiled faintly, the sadness weighing down on him. "I never meant to leave you this way. I never wanted you to suffer like this."
He reached out, his hand trembling as he cupped her face. "You're stronger than you think, Alexandra. But..." he faltered, "...maybe it's time."
"Time for what?" she whispered.
"Time to let me go," he said, the words filled with an unbearable sorrow. "Time to heal."
Alexandra stared at his lifeless face, her heart aching at the sight of his once-vibrant eyes now hollowed. "You were my everything," she whispered, her lips trembling. "I don't know how to live without you."
"I miss you, Alfred, please take me with you..." she mumbled desperately.
"Even if I cannot fulfill your dreams?" he asked weakly.
She slowly shook her head, "You were the dream, Alfred." she said lovingly.
He shook his head gently. "You deserve more than this, my love. You deserve a life, happiness, something beyond grief. But if it's too much, if you truly want this..."
He extended his hand at her, "Let's be together.." She closes her eyes as Alfred leans in, pressing his cold lips to hers, and for a moment, all the pain melted away.
Together, hand in hand, they walked toward the light, the world fading around them.

Later
We then hear a few knocks on the door, followed by the concerned voice of her mother, "Sweetheart? How are you feeling?"
Her mother carefully opened the door and stepped inside, only to find her daughter lying on the bed, motionless.
"Aaaaahh!! My child!" Her mother let out a cry of disbelief before clutching her daughter's lifeless cold body to her chest.
She shook with grief, sobbing uncontrollably as she held her precious child in her arms.
The medical staff rushed in, desperately trying to revive her, but it was no use. The doctor quietly checked her pulse and gently pulled the sheet over her still body, and then declared her time of death.
___
In the following days after Alexandra's passing, the school was awash with murmurs of her tragic love story, a tale too strange and beautiful for their small world.
Alexandra Gonzales, the quiet, diligent girl who lived under the shadow of her mother's strict control, had unknowingly found herself in the arms of someone who didn't belong to this world.
Now, standing by Alexandra's grave, Jasper felt the weight of their shared loss. He placed a small bouquet of wildflowers by the headstone, remembering the girl who had lived in a world of quiet expectation until love had pulled her into something much larger than life.
The school mourned her, but they never knew the depths of what she had experienced-the mystery, the love, the heartbreak.
Her mother, cold and distant as always, rarely spoke of her daughter's passing.
She visited the grave each day in silence, her expression unreadable.
The truth of Alexandra's death weighed heavy on her heart, though she would never admit it. She had always been hard on her daughter, pushing her toward perfection. But now, standing alone at the grave, the only thing she could feel was regret for the love she had never fully given.
As for Alfred, no one spoke of him anymore. His body was laid to rest, and his spirit, it seemed, had finally found peace. But there were whispers that on quiet nights, near the park by the hill, a cool breeze would pass through the trees, and if you listened closely, you could hear the faint echo of his laughter, mingling with the soft voice of the girl who loved him until the very end.
They had found each other, even in death, their tragic story that lingered in the halls and hearts of those who had known them.
In the end, love, even in its most impossible forms, had brought them together.
THE END.
