We walked to the end of the hall and stopped in front of a large navy blue door. The nurse lady punched in the code to what must be Blaire Dechrin's office. The door swung open and I stepped inside.
"Ah, Beatris Prior. I've heard so much about you," said Blaire. She wore blue blazer paired with a blue pencil skirt. Her hair was a dark raven color and had auburn highlights - probably not natural considering her age witch was around 40. and her eyes were a piercing dark brown. "You must be wondering where you are," she laughed, "and what you are doing here,".
Then all at once, as if I had retrieved a memory that had temporarily been taken from me, I remembered something very important, "Where is Tobias? Where are my friends?"
"We'll get to that, first I'd like to start with you. You've been here ever since you got shot in the weapons vault, which is about a year and a half. Once you were shot my people came in and took you away to heal you at our headquarters. Right now we are in Oak Park - about 9 miles from Chicago. Where your friends are. And I am here to personally welcome you to the team," I stared at her in confusion.
"What team? I have to get back to Tobias. So I'll be going now." I turned to leave and was half way to the door, when my legs gave out, then suddenly I was on the floor. "What did you do to me?" I ask, frustrated.
"Due to past experience dealing with you and your kind, we figured you would be driven by your strong emotional impulse to reassure your self with those you love. But Ms. Prior I assure you you are very safe here. We are on your side. Our mission is to reunite our nation and become one again. We used to be what is known as the United States of America. Although that is not important. What is important is that our country is returned to its former glory," She finished with a plastic and see through smile as if she had rehearsed this speech before now.
"What ever happened to David and the Bureau?" If I'm forced to stay here I might as well get something useful out of this lady, I thought. She, funny enough, reminded me of Jeanine Matthews. With the way she dressed and talked. She just seemed very much like an Eurudite. I never really stopped categorizing people into factions, Tris thought, old habits die hard I guess.
"The were eliminated of course." She said with no emotion, just stating the fact that David and his followers were gone. She then switched gears and was more sympathetic. "Of coarse we will let you go Tris. But we just need you and your abilities to help us understand how to better our nation and make sure nothing like the experiments happen again,"
My shoulders slumped a little as she gave in. "How long do I have to stay here?"
Blaire looked pleased and said "Oh we will have the information we need after about 5-6 weeks,"
I slowly got up and stood tall with her head up as if to demand respect. "Fine. Now show me to my room,"
