The morning sun filtered through the curtains, casting a dim light in Genevieve's room. She stirred awake, the remnants of the night of the party's terror lingering in her mind. As she pulled herself out of bed, the sound of her mother's frantic voice floated from downstairs.
"Genevieve! You need to see this!" Victoria called, panic evident in her tone.
Genevieve rushed down the stairs, her heart racing. In the living room, her father stood with a grim expression, a news report playing on the television.
"Another girl was found dead, Genevieve. Strangled," Nathaniel said , his voice low.
"What? Who?" Genevieve felt her stomach drop. "Another murder? One after the other?"
"They say she was found near the park, not far from here," Victoria added, her face pale. "They're closing the streets. It's all over the news."
Just then, Nicholas knocked on their front door, his face ashen. Genevieve opened it, and he stepped inside, breathing heavily.
"I heard," he said, his voice strained. "What's going on? Are we safe?"
Victoria shook her head. "They're telling everyone to stay inside. They think there's a serial killer on the loose."
Nicholas swallowed hard. "This can't be happening. It was just a party; we thought we were safe."
"We need to call the police," Genevieve said, her voice shaking. "We have to figure out what's going on."
Nicholas nodded, but his eyes were distant. "What if it's someone we know?"

She jumped out of bed and rushed downstairs, finding her parents already gathered in the living room, their expressions grave.
"Did you hear about the girl?" her father asked, his voice tight.
"Yeah, I just saw it on my phone. What do we do?" Isabella replied, panic rising in her chest.
"We need to stay inside," her mother said, gripping the arm of the couch. "The police are warning everyone to be cautious."
Isabella glanced out the window, seeing police cars lining the street. "What if the killer comes here? What if it's someone we know?"
Her mother pulled her into a hug. "We're safe inside. The detectives are doing everything they can. Just... stay close."
