A Family

Jeep

  Ethan is with a group of guards out in the second section, there was still places that need to be cleared by zombies. They bring some that work on building the fence while they clear the area, afterwards they help them.

  As they're going through the area, collecting stuff they can use for the fence, Ethan takes notice of a place with lots of cars stored. In between them from a distance, one of them catches his eyes. He goes to check it out.

  Later some of the others walk past and see him leaning into the hood of a jeep.

  "What's this?" One asks as they walk up to him.

  "A car." He just answers and the others chuckle while the guy gives him an annoyed look.

  "You think you can get it working?" Jackson asks him, looking into it too.

  "What are you going to use it for?"

  Ethan just glance at them and keeps looking it over. They realise you're thinking about leaving Haven.

  When they get back, you and Parker stand to greet them. Then you notice they have another vehicle in tow. Ethan gets out of the truck and greet you. He leans down to hug Mia and pick up Parker, then give you a kiss. Your attention turns to the Jeep. If you're gonna leave Haven, you told him you wanted to give the kids the best possible chance to survive the journey.

  First thing you notice immediately is the damaged wheel. The outside was mostly in a good condition still, it must not have been used during the chaos the apocalypse started. Then you open the hood and look it over. Ethan puts down Parker and tells you about a tire he put in the back, in hope that it will fit. Knox walks up to you and looks at the jeep, then glance at the two of you.

  "You're leaving, aren't you?" He asks and you glance at Ethan.

  "We're gonna find my family. My father was high ranked in the military and must've been called in for something when the outbreak happened."

  "We have two kids under our care now, we won't just leave without a good chance at making it." You reassure Knox and he nods.

  "You have provided my guards many useful skills and contributed more than I expected. You both have. As much as we want you to stay, I won't stay in the way."

  "Thank you, Knox." You share a smile.

  He looks at Ethan. "I trust you'll get them there. Now, what do you need?"

  Ethan nods appreciatively and turns back to the jeep. Going over it, more guys come to help out. On the next run they take time to look for everything they need.

  After getting the car going, and are provided with enough fuel to reach the safe place you came from, your family makes a bold decision to get back out on the road.

  It wasn't because you wanted to leave Haven, but you wanted to do something to at least move in the direction where Ethan thinks his family are. His own family was his first priority, but you all wanted to do something to try and get there too. Staying at one place, not knowing and just wait wasn't doing it for you and Ethan. And as long as Parker and Mia are okay with it, you would be travelling.

  Ethan arms the jeep with as much as he can, making it able to take a lot of hits and store an extra tire they found and other things for potential damage you'll need to fix on the road. He would love to find an abandoned military base somewhere and get an even stronger jeep, but this was fine and it was less of an eye catcher hopefully. He finds a green tarpaulin and make it even more camouflaging.

  You go through the inside of the jeep. Getting your stuff in and storing everything important to have on the trip. Knox is generous and gives you more than you can take with you. He offers as much fuel as he can afford to give away. They needed fuel themselves, but they weren't travelling far when they were out. You accept enough fuel to almost get to the place Ethan says he found fuel, telling them he will walk from where it goes empty. He knew that area was one of the better and he wasn't worried about it.

  The jeep has two seats up front and they ripped out the backseat to have a bigger open space inside behind the seats. From the front you can get in the back without too much trouble, not depending on having to get out of the car. It was a big and strong jeep, it wasn't pretty but it will protect you on your journey.

  Some of the woman here help you out on getting the jeep ready for a long journey with two kids, they gift you warm blankets and other necessities.

  Before leaving, you approach Knox and give him a hug, thanking him for everything he has done for you and your family. Then you hug your friends and wave everyone goodbye before getting in the jeep and Ethan drives out through the gate.

  You get on your way back to Jason and the others first, since it's on the way in the direction you're heading. Looking in the side mirror, you watch as Haven gets further and further away.

  "You think we'll ever come back here?" You ask him.

  "I don't know. Do you want to?"

  Leaning back, you turn your head and look at him. "We have somewhere else we need to get before we think about that. But, no matter where we are.. I just need my family. You three are my home."

  He turns his head and gives you a loving smile.
