After some gentle persuasion, Abheer finally relented and stepped out of the room, leaving Naina and the doctor alone. The atmosphere was thick with tension as the doctor conducted her examination. Moments later, she emerged with a serious expression, addressing the anxious group gathered outside. "Mr. Virk, I have good news. Mrs. Virk is stable now and will regain consciousness shortly."
"But Doctor, what exactly happened to her? Why did she suddenly feel pain?" Simar asked, her voice trembling with concern as she stepped closer.
The doctor paused, taking a deep breath, her eyes reflecting the weight of the situation. "I suspect the poison has had an impact on her baby. While both mother and child are safe for now, the poison could have caused harm. However, there's a silver lining-Naina's pain is a result of the poison's effects, but it should heal with time. It's crucial that you shower her with love and create a peaceful environment to keep her spirits high. Be vigilant; she must avoid anger and stress, as her body is fragile and unable to withstand further pain. Any stress could exacerbate her condition, possibly leading to fainting. I'm prescribing some medication to help manage her discomfort, but it may not eliminate the pain entirely. Mr. Virk, it's vital that you take excellent care of her. Given her blood loss, she'll need extra nutrients and attention to recover fully."
The doctor handed some medicines to Abheer and then stepped out, leaving a heavy silence in the room. Maahi approached to bid her farewell, her eyes filled with concern.
As soon as the door closed, Abheer rushed inside and settled beside Naina on the bed. Simar followed closely, her expression mirroring the worry that hung in the air. Abheer gently took Naina's hand, pressing a tender kiss to the back of it, his gaze unwavering. "I promise you, Naina. I will take care of you like no one else can. Nothing will harm you while I'm here. The love we share will overshadow this pain, I swear it. I know you're strong enough to mask your suffering, but deep down, you know you can't endure much more. It breaks my heart to see you like this." He kissed her hand again, then pressed his lips to her forehead, hoping to convey all the love he felt.
Naina's face was pale, her strength seemingly drained. Her fragile hands looked as if they had borne the weight of the world. It was painful to witness; it felt like she had neglected herself completely. Abheer's eyes fell on her left wrist, wrapped in a bandage, and he took her hand gently, caressing it with a mix of tenderness and sorrow. "I had no idea you would go to such lengths to harm yourself. If I had known you were in this kind of pain, I would have done everything in my power to stop it." His voice trembled with emotion, and he wished desperately to take away her suffering.
Tears welled up in his eyes as he thought about what Naina had gone through. Simar looked at him, her hand gently resting on his shoulder, and said, "Don't cry, Abheer. We all regret what we did, but now it's time for us to take care of her together. You should find joy in the fact that you're going to be a father, regardless of Naina's anger. Deep down, I know she's just putting on a brave face because she loves us all, especially you. She hasn't said it out loud, but I've seen that spark in her eyes-it's only for you."
Abheer nodded, his heart heavy with emotion. "But this guilt is like a shadow that won't leave me. Every time I try to feel happy, memories of what I did to her flood my mind. How I ended our marriage and turned my back on her for Anaya. I can't shake the guilt of not even asking her for the truth. I never shared my feelings with her."
Simar squeezed his shoulder, her voice softening. "You need to talk to her, Abheer. The past is heavy, but the future holds promise. If you reach out, you might find that she's still there, waiting for you to step back into her life."
Just then, Rihaan burst into the room, plopping down beside Abheer and giving his shoulder a reassuring pat. "Don't worry, Abheer. Soon she'll forgive us, and everything will go back to normal. You both will embark on your new journey with your baby."
Abheer nodded, but the sound of Sihaan's wails echoed from downstairs, breaking the tension. Simar was about to rise when they felt Naina stir slightly. All eyes turned to her as she slowly opened her eyes. In an instant, she sat up, a flash of pain crossing her face. Abheer noticed and instinctively reached out to comfort her, caressing her back gently, but Naina recoiled, her voice sharp with anger. "Just stay away from me! How can you all act like nothing happened after everything?"
The cries of Sihaan pierced through the air, and Naina's expression shifted. Without a second thought, she swung her legs over the side of the bed and rushed out of the room, her determination palpable. Abheer, Simar, and Rihaan exchanged worried glances and hurried after her. Naina stormed into the living room, where Maahi was desperately trying to soothe Sihaan, who was crying as if the world was ending.
Naina scooped Sihaan into her arms, her heart swelling with emotion as she finally held him after what felt like an eternity. Tears glistened in her eyes, but they were tears of joy. She had always cherished him as if he were her own, and now, feeling his warmth against her, happiness radiated from her very core.
As she gently patted his back, she began to sway, taking soft steps around the room. Gradually, Sihaan's cries faded, replaced by the sweet sound of laughter. The room filled with smiles as everyone watched this heartwarming scene unfold. Naina's heart soared when she caught Sihaan's gaze; his little face broke into a radiant smile, which soon transformed into soft chuckles. It was a sound that hadn't been heard in a long time, and it filled the air with a sense of magic.
"Aww, just look at them! They seem like the perfect mother and son duo. The way Sihaan is laughing in Naina bhabhi's arms makes it feel like he's destined to be her son, not Simar bhabhi's," Maahi whispered to Gayetri, their eyes sparkling with delight. The warmth of the moment enveloped everyone, and it was clear that a beautiful bond was blossoming right before their eyes.
Gayetri nodded with a smile on her face, feeling the warmth of the moment. Naina turned to head towards Simar's room, but just as she was about to cross the hall, Abheer stepped in front of her, blocking her path.
Naina raised an eyebrow, a mix of annoyance and confusion crossing her face. She tried to sidestep him, but he mirrored her movement, effectively keeping her trapped. Her patience wore thin as this game continued.
"What's your problem? Can't you see I want to go? You're wasting my time!" Naina snapped, irritating her voice. Abheer, unfazed, stood his ground. "But you can't go. Officially, a wife can't leave her husband or her family most of the time when she is pregnant."
His words hung in the air, and everyone exchanged bewildered glances. Was there really a rule like that? The tension was palpable as Naina glared at him.
"You are not my husband, and this is not my family. So please, step aside and let me go to my house," Naina shot back, her voice sharp and filled with fire. The room seemed to hold its breath, waiting for Abheer's next move as the standoff continued.
"You are my legal wife, and this family is yours. You can't just leave them or me. So it's better if you stay here," Abheer insisted, a hint of desperation in his voice. Naina crossed her arms defiantly and shot back, "Oh really? Let me remind you that we are divorced. You're not my husband, I'm not your wife, and this family isn't mine."
With a swift motion, she pushed him aside, but Abheer quickly grasped her wrist, his eyes intense as he brandished their divorce papers. "These are our divorce papers. If this isn't here, then our divorce won't be valid!"
Naina stared at him, confusion swirling in her mind as she tried to process his words. Before she could respond, he ripped the papers in half, the sound echoing like a thunderclap in the tense atmosphere. The air crackled with unresolved emotions, and for a moment, the world around them faded, leaving just the two of them locked in a battle of wills.
