Gayetri looked at Naina, who was laying bare the truth about their tangled relationship. Maahi, overwhelmed with emotion, sank to the floor, gripping Gayetri's legs tightly. "Maa, please, I'm so sorry. I know I shouldn't have done this, but you have to believe me; we didn't mean for any of this to happen. We were out of our minds. Maa, I love him, and he loves me too. Please, just accept this baby."
"Aunty, I know she made a mistake, but they're planning to marry, and they both are okay with this. We should embrace this baby. After all, they'll have children after the wedding-can't they have one before it?" Naina interjected, her voice steady as she tried to mediate the tension.
Gayetri felt a sharp pang in her heart at the word 'Aunty.' Just yesterday, Naina had called her Maa, but now it felt like a distance had crept back in.
Her gaze shifted back to Maahi, who was still sobbing, clinging desperately to her legs.
"I get what you're saying, but we need to consider how others will react. What will people think when they hear that Maahi got pregnant before her wedding? The rumors will fly, and we can't predict the fallout," Meenavati chimed in, her tone serious. Naina glanced at her, determination in her eyes as she dialed a number, ready to take action.
"I understand, so we should definitely call Dhruv's family and break the news about Maahi's pregnancy. Then we can figure out our next steps," Naina said with a determined tone as she dialed Dhruv's number.
As soon as Dhruv picked up the phone, his voice was laced with worry. "Hello, bhabhi! Is everything okay? Did something happen to Maahi?"
His questions poured out like a waterfall, while Naina couldn't help but smile. "No, nothing like that! I called you to let you know that we want to talk to you and your family. Can you all come over?"
"Yeah, sure! I mean, we're all ready. In fact, I'm dying to see Maahi! Ahhhh, I miss her so much!" he exclaimed, his excitement palpable, making Naina chuckle even more. The sound of her laughter reached Maahi, who paused her tears, and everyone around them couldn't help but grin.
Outside, Abheer was strolling in with Rihaan when he suddenly stopped, his ears catching the joyful noise. Rihaan shot him a disbelieving look and shook his head, clearly amused by Abheer's obliviousness.
"Hey, wake up!" Rihaan nudged Abheer, who seemed lost in a daydream. Snapping back to reality, Abheer felt a flush of embarrassment wash over him as he noticed everyone's gaze on Naina.
Naina, noticing their stares, raised an eyebrow and said, "What? Do I need your permission to smile, to laugh, or to cry?" With a playful huff, she turned and headed out to the garden, leaving a trail of laughter behind her. Simar, meanwhile, approached Maahi after handing Sihaan to Meenavati, ready to share in the moment.
"Maahi, see, everyone is here for you. We'll figure this out together. Don't cry," Simar said softly, trying to comfort her as Maahi nodded, tears still streaming down her face.
Simar gently led her to her room, encouraging her to wash her face and freshen up. Afterward, she handed Maahi the necessary medicines for her pregnancy, helping her settle into bed. With a reassuring smile, Simar left the room, hoping her friend would find peace.
Outside, Naina sat on the bench beneath the old tree in their garden, her eyes closed as she took a moment to breathe. Thoughts swirled in her mind about everything that had transpired. She felt a flutter in her stomach, a reminder of the life growing inside her. With her hand resting on her belly, she imagined the little one-would it be a girl, a boy, or perhaps twins? A smile crept across her face as she envisioned the beautiful moments they would share.
Lost in her daydreams, Naina was unaware of Simar's presence until she spoke up. "It feels good, right? Imagining and feeling your baby?" Simar asked, taking a seat beside her. Naina nodded, her eyes still closed, savoring the moment.
Simar reached out, wanting to comfort her, but Naina suddenly opened her eyes and looked at her with a serious expression. "I don't need your fake care..." she said, but her words faltered when she noticed the tears glistening in Simar's eyes.
In that instant, her heart softened. She reached out, cupping Simar's face in her hands, wiping away the tears that fell. "Di, what happened? I'm sorry if I was rude. I promise I won't do it again." Her voice was filled with genuine concern, realizing that sometimes, they all needed each other more than they thought.
But Simar shook her head and said, "No, I deserve this all. I am getting what I deserve for what I did. I trusted Anaya over you; I trusted her over my sister, who is like my baccha (baby). I have always cherished you; I have watched you grow up. But instead of believing in you, I let her words cloud my judgment. I should have thought carefully before slapping you, remembering that everything you know, you learned from me. I should have stood by you, no matter what mistakes you made. Instead, I pushed you away, threw you out of your home, out of Abheer's life."
Tears welled up in Naina's eyes as she listened, feeling the weight of Simar's words.
"Di, I'm so sorry. I said terrible things to you, and I regret it. I know you didn't do this on purpose; Anaya just manipulated everyone with her words. But now that I'm back, I promise I won't leave you or any of you again. Di, please don't cry," Naina pleaded, her own tears flowing freely. Simar quickly wiped Naina's tears away, then brushed her own away and said, "Naina, what are you doing? You shouldn't cry or stress during your pregnancy. You're carrying a little life inside you; it's so important for your baby's health. You need to stay happy, not let anger take over. The doctor has warned that stress can make your pain worse, and you need to be strong and healthy for both of you. Let's focus on nurturing that little one and finding our way back to each other."
Naina nodded, resting her head in Simar's lap, finding solace in her sister's comforting presence. Simar gently ran her fingers through Naina's hair and said, "Why didn't you tell us about Maahi's relationship and her pregnancy? We could have figured something out or even helped them get married."
"Because she asked me not to. I thought I'd share the news about her pregnancy after we postponed her wedding. Then came Karva Chauth, and you know how everything spiraled from there. Anaya didn't give me a moment to breathe, always challenging me, claiming she would get Abheer. And she did exactly that. It was Niyati who spilled the beans about my situation, and then Abheer showed up. But he was there for the baby, not for me," Naina said, closing her eyes and bitterly smiling as memories flooded back of how much he had changed, how the love they once shared seemed to fade away.
"No, Naina, it's not like that. You've always proven him wrong. He got tangled in Anaya's web of lies. She painted a false picture of your relationship, and it all unraveled when Abheer refused to marry her. Remember when the police took her away? You've misjudged him. He loves you even more than before. You can't fathom the turmoil he faced after you left. He was shattered, locked away in his room, lost in a sea of thoughts. It's a mistake to think he came only for the baby; he wanted to return long before, but it was either us or Anaya holding him back. He loved you, he loves you, and he will love you forever. Just look into his eyes, and you'll see everything you need to know."
Simar watched as Naina's eyelids fluttered, finally surrendering to sleep. It was a bittersweet sight; her sister had faced so much, and the weight of it all seemed to melt away now that she was surrounded by family. Usually, pregnancy left girls feeling exhausted, but Naina's journey had been a whirlwind of emotions and challenges. After everything, it was comforting to have Simar by her side, a presence that felt like home. Niyati had been there, but she could never replace the bond they shared.
As Naina drifted off, Simar gently caressed her sister's head, a soothing gesture that spoke of love and protection. She closed her eyes too, feeling a wave of relief wash over her. The chaos of the past few weeks faded into the background, and for the first time in a long while, Simar allowed herself to hope. She could feel the warmth of their connection, a reminder that no matter how tangled life became, family would always be there to help untie the knots. In that tranquil moment, the world outside seemed to pause, leaving just the two of them in their cocoon of comfort.
