As the gods dispersed, Jimin stood there, still trying to process what he had just witnessed. The grandeur of the Heaven Palace, the gods bowing, and Taehyung’s overwhelming presence—it all felt surreal, like a dream he couldn’t wake from.
But it wasn’t a dream.
His instincts, sharpened by the mysteries he had already encountered, urged him to follow Taehyung into the palace. He needed to uncover the truth about the relationship between Taehyung and Jungkook—the story hidden behind centuries of myth and legend.
He moved cautiously, following the path Taehyung had taken, his steps echoing softly against the marble floor. The palace doors stood ajar, as if inviting him inside, though the divine energy that radiated from within made the air feel heavy, almost oppressive.
Stepping over the threshold, Jimin entered the palace’s grand hall. The walls were adorned with murals of celestial battles, of gods wielding unimaginable power. But his eyes were drawn to a single image at the center—Taehyung and Jungkook, standing side by side. In the mural, Taehyung held his flaming sword high, his face set in determination, while Jungkook, dressed in dark robes, stood with his hand outstretched, as if reaching for something just out of his grasp.
Jimin’s heart clenched as he studied the painting. They weren’t enemies here. They were comrades—partners, even. And yet, the air around the image was thick with tension, as though something unspeakable had driven them apart.
"Why are you here?"
The voice, low and commanding, startled Jimin. He spun around, his breath catching in his throat.
There, standing at the far end of the hall, was Taehyung.
His piercing eyes locked onto Jimin, and for a moment, time seemed to freeze. It was impossible—Taehyung shouldn’t be able to see him. He wasn’t part of this world. Yet the God of War was looking directly at him, his expression unreadable, but his presence as imposing as ever.
Jimin’s pulse quickened, his mind racing. How could Taehyung see him? What would happen now that his presence had been noticed?
"You shouldn’t be here," Taehyung said, his voice echoing through the vast hall. He began walking toward Jimin, his steps slow but purposeful. "You don’t belong in this realm."
Jimin felt frozen in place, torn between fear and curiosity. There was no turning back now. He had come too far, seen too much. The truth was within his grasp—he just had to reach for it.
"I—I came to understand," Jimin stammered, his voice small in the face of Taehyung’s presence. "I want to know what really happened between you and Jungkook."
At the mention of Jungkook’s name, something flickered in Taehyung’s eyes—pain, sorrow, perhaps even regret. It was brief, but Jimin saw it, and it made his heart ache. There was more to this story than the history books had ever revealed.
Taehyung stopped a few feet from Jimin, his gaze softening just slightly.
"The truth?" Taehyung’s voice was quiet now, almost contemplative. "The truth is buried beneath centuries of lies and betrayal. Even the gods don’t speak of it anymore."
Jimin swallowed hard, his throat dry. "But I want to know. I need to know."
For a long moment, Taehyung said nothing. He seemed to be weighing something in his mind, his dark eyes studying Jimin as though searching for something. Then, with a deep sigh, he turned away, walking toward the mural that depicted him and Jungkook.
"You want to know the truth?" Taehyung asked, his voice distant as he gazed up at the painting. "Then follow me. But be warned—the truth is not as simple as you think."
Jimin hesitated for only a moment before nodding. He had come this far, and there was no turning back now. Whatever the truth was, he had to see it for himself.
Taehyung led him deeper into the palace, through grand halls and corridors that seemed to stretch on forever. The further they went, the more Jimin felt the weight of the past pressing down on him, as if the very walls of the palace carried the memories of the gods.
Finally, they reached a large, arched doorway at the end of a dimly lit corridor. Beyond it, Jimin could see a vast chamber, its walls lined with ancient tapestries and relics from a time long forgotten.
"This is where it began," Taehyung said, his voice heavy with emotion. "The place where everything changed."
Jimin stepped into the chamber, his eyes immediately drawn to the center of the room, where a large, circular altar stood. Upon it was a sword—Taehyung’s flaming sword, its blade glowing faintly in the dim light. But there was something else beside it—a dark, twisted object that seemed to pulse with a malevolent energy.
Jungkook’s weapon.
Jimin’s breath caught in his throat. The two weapons, side by side, told a story that no words could.
"This is where I lost him," Taehyung said quietly, his eyes fixed on the altar. "Where the heavens turned him against me. But it wasn’t by choice. It never was."
Jimin’s heart raced. The pieces of the puzzle were finally falling into place.
"They made him into a villain," Taehyung continued, his voice barely above a whisper. "But he was never my enemy. He was my everything."
Jimin’s eyes widened, his mind reeling from the weight of Taehyung’s confession. This wasn’t just a story of betrayal—it was a story of love, twisted by fate and the cruel machinations of the gods.
And now, standing before the remnants of their tragic past, Jimin understood.
Taehyung and Jungkook had never been enemies.
They had been lovers.
