It was a average day in the depths of the unforsaken world of rain world. Two slugcats emerged out of a nearby shelters entrance the first one being the solicitous. The other being the imitator two of which were siblings twins even. However they could be easily told apart as solicitous had a scar upon their eye causing them to have a slightly worse vision. However visibility wasn't something that was really available in the depths, the two looked around their surroundings before solicitous nuzzled their sibling letting out a soft murr like noise as imitator huffed returning the favour. The two were basically glued to each other always sticking together even when hunting or fighting, solicitous eventually pulled away speaking in a soft tone of voice
"We should probably go hunting now.. we don't have much time until it starts raining again."
Imitator huffed nodding in agreement as they took a whiff of the air smelling some blue fruit nearby aswell as a group of scavengers?. It didn't really matter however the lack of arms was, a group of scavengers could easily corner them and spear them to death. solicitous sighed as they suddenly turned to face their sibling having a stern expression as they spoke
"Maybe this time I'll go hunting?. I wouldn't want you to get injured."
Imitator immediately snapped at that mere thought of letting their sibling go alone again. They quickly responded with slight concern and annoyance
"What? No.. You already got hurt last time and plus we can stand a chance against the scavengers if theres two of us.. i can be the distractor.. we don't always need to jump into combat"
solicitous nuzzled their sibling trying to calm them down with a lick before responding
"Your right.. but honestly i wouldn't want you to get hurt either way the scavengers are pretty smart."
Imitator huffed before grabbing ahold of their siblings tail with theirs as they began to walk with them to the scent of blue fruit not letting them say anything. solicitous stayed silent as the two passed throughout entrance entering from one room to the other with ease as they finally made it to the room with the blue fruit. As per usual solicitous jumped up kicking the dangling blue fruit to the ground as Imitator looked around the area more cautious with the scent of a scavenger group nearby. solicitous picked up the "fruit" with their tail storing the other in their mouth before nudging their sibling to grab two for themselves aswell. Imitator snapped out of their thoughts as they simply nodded grabbing one blue fruit in their tail aswell and the other in their gut. The two huffed before making their way back to where their shelter was located having another successful day of surviving together yet something startled the two as a sudden group of batflies appeared from one of the entrances the critters making squeaky like noises as imitator dropped the "fruit" from their tail slowly but surely approaching them their markings standing out in the dimly lit room. The flies soon caught  attention in the brightly glowing markings flapping their wings over as the Imitator bit down on one of them their tiny bones cracking from the force alone. The huffed before quickly eating it and biting down on another saving it for their sibling. solicitous was too caught up with storing the blue fruit for later they didn't even notice the disappearance of their sibling as they arrived in the shelter realising how quiet it was, they quickly snapped their head around realising their sibling was gone. In a state of panic they hurried toward the entrance of the shelter before it could activate to close itself which was exactly when their sibling crawled in. They two stumbled against each other Imitator hitting solicitous with enough force to knock them down. Whilst falling over solicitous let out a squeak before rolling over to the side and quickly standing up shaking themselves as they stared at their sibling worried.
"Are you okay?"
"Are you hurt?"
"Where were you!"
Was all that Imitator could hear as they themselves stood up from sitting on the ground staring at their siblings worried expression. solicitous then noticed the batfly hanging in their mouth the poor critter still struggling.
"You could have been seriously injured you know! Never do that please."
Imitator huffed as they nuzzled their sibling dropping the batfly as they themselves responded
"Don't worry please. A group of batflies was right outside the shelter and i couldn't help myself, be glad I got you one."
solicitous shook their head before grabbing it and chewing it up as they sat down Imitator following them.
The two sat in silence for a while before solicitous layed their head down on the ground. Imitator layed their head ontop of theirs as the two cuddled closely with each other having yet completed another pointless day in solicitous's eyes. Imitator didn't see the world the same as their sibling seeing some sense of responsibility and point. The two fell asleep cuddled up against each other as the heavy rainfall began.
