Chapter 1

Rukis Pov

"Ruki! Ruki! Ya Ruki, wake up!"

were the first words I heard from my manager, Arisu. I groaned in annoyance, but I had no choice but to wake up. "Im up, im up! Whats so important that you have to wake me up for?"

"Well, someone's a little bit grumpy."

I heard someone say in front of me; it was Yuna. always coming to bother me every time they have the chance to do so.

"Ruki, get up; we have a group meeting today's performance at Pcountdown." Arisu never sounded this serious about group meetings, so I looked at Yuna, and they shrugged. Arisu went ahead, then me and Yuna followed behind, and Yuna whispered something in my ear,
"You're lucky you got some sleep; Solar kept on getting scolded by Nicola and Arisu for sleeping again."
"What? No way. Whats up with the staff treating Solar like a piece of dogshit?"

Me and Yuna were so invested in what we were talking about that we didn't even notice that our manager was giving us a death glare until she cuts us off.

"Ruki. Yuna. Stop talking and keep walking; we were almost there."

"Get ready to shoot some poses for 5tarlight" I mumbled. We hopped out of our manager's van, a familiar rush of bore creeping in. We as a collective group didn't favour posing for 10 minutes, it was the performance which excited us. The fans shaking their lightsticks and shouting our names, the adrenaline we got was unexplainable.

Arisu, our manager, was already standing outside the van giving us a quick glance. Her presence was calming. She always knew how to get the best out of us without pushing us too far, but we could feel the nervousness behind her usual cool exterior today. Today we had to go against our competitor group: V1sion. Although we've charted well they also have been creeping up the charts and from the looks of it our points today 50/50..guuuulp..

After escaping the groups of fans we headed towards our dressing room bowing to our seniors along the way.

As we walked into the dressing room we were met with the buzzing energy that filled the backstage area.

All of a sudden our members went quiet, drawing my attention.

"Alright, listen up, 5tar," Arisu began, her voice cutting through the noise of the bustling hallway outside. "Today isn't just any performance. You all know who we're up against—V1sion. Our competition, and they're out to steal OUR spotlight."

Now I didn't know much about V1sion not even who their members were since they're irrelevant😂 except for their leader, flo.. but ever since us and them have debuted we've always been pitted against each other. During award shows they'd steal our rookie of the year awards and we'd steal theirs. Now both our our comebacks were being promoted during the same time period and Arisu wants us to win this time. She got her ass kicked by our CEO, Steph. Steph was mysterious, I've never seen her before but she had an ability to form these amazing groups. Us losing to V1sion would be the end of her streak and us as a group.

As the leader I stood up and gave a firm nod to our manager. "We've got this" I said as I squared my shoulders.
The members cheered which made me giggle quite a bit and Arisu smirked, a rare sign of approval.

Eli our energetic main dancer did a quick stretch. "As ready as ever, Lets all do our best guys!"

Solar our Vocalist was doing laps around the room, getting given out to must have shaken her up but Yuna out Main Rapper was there to comfort them placing a hand on her shoulder in which she returned with a smile.

Kat walked up behind me giving me a reassuring grin. Although she had the less positions of lead dancer and sub rapper she was full of charisma which shined through the stage.

The lights dimmed as the crowd roared, their voices filled the entirety of pcountdown. Backstage energy pulsed through us like an electric current. This was it. Our first stage of this comeback

I gripped the door handle and signaled to my members all of them giving me a look of approval and opened it. The cool steel of the doorknob contrasting the rush of anticipation in me.

We greeted all our fans and prepared our positions. The music exploded. The rhythm took control of us our bodies moving in perfect sync.
