Hey everybody! i'm a HUGE fan of the Avatar: the Last Airbender tv series and comics, as well as the Legend of Korra, as are my brothers, and most all of my friends. I've been wanting to do a fan fiction for a while now, but the question was always what? I was rewatching the episodes (yes, all of them) one day when I came across something interesting in the episode The Blue Spirit in the season 1. Something only showing up in that episode, on which I wished the creators would elaborate more on. This mysterious concept was the Yuyan Archers. I got into the idea a bit more and this is what came out. I hope you love it! Also: I own none of this except for Serena and the names of the Yuyan Archers, everything else goes to the creators. Oh! A little side note, go to this link to watch the full episode: http://www.watchcartoononline.com/avatar-book-1-water-episode-13 . I suggest you watch it alongside reading this. I did that while writing it, so they go hand-in-hand.

"Absolutely not. The Yuyan Archers stay here. Your request is denied, Commander Zhao." The man said, slightly annoyed such a thing would be asked.

"Coronel Shino, please reconsider. Their precision is legendary. The Yuyan could pin a fly to a tree 100 yards away without killing it. You're wasting their talents using them as mere security guards." the second, slightly taller man replied.

"I can do whatever I want with their talents. They're my archers, and what I say goes." The first one said, slightly raising his voice."

"But my search for the Avatar is-"

"Is nothing but a vanity project! We're fighting a real war here, and I need every man I've got, Commander."

"But-"

"That's final! I don't want to hear another word about it!" The first man said angrily. The second one sighed.

They were interrupted by a messenger hawk coming in. The first man took the letter from it and stared at the paper, dumbfounded.

"News from Fire Lord Ozai?" The second man inquired as he was handed the parchment. He grinned as he read it. "It appears I've been promoted to admiral. My request is now an order." The first man bowed and walked down the steps of the tower. The second stayed and watched the archers practice. What neither man noticed was the mask figure in black crouched on the top of the tower, listening to their conversation.

Should we engage the target? Lee, my second-in-command, asked, using our hand signals, We could probably get a clear shot through the canvas roof.

No. Wait until he's outside, I signaled back, We'll have a clearer shot.
Then he'll have a better chance of getting away. If we shoot now, he'll be trapped inside the herbalist's hut.

The chase is half the fun, besides, we all know we'll get him in the end. We might as well have some fun while doing this stupid mission for Zhao. Then we can get back to the base as soon as possible and go back to playing man hunt, I smiled. Man hunt was a favorite training game of ours. Shooting regular targets had gotten boring so every night we released a few prisoners and caught them by morning. If we didn't catch them by the time the sun was up, they were free to go. That hadn't happened yet.

Akiko, another of the archers, smiled at me and nodded. A few looks were exchanged throughout the group and then we focused back on the target. He finished talking to the herbalist and was getting ready to walk out. I held up a fist and everyone nocked an arrow onto their bows.
