meanwhile, in the quiet of mark's room, he picked up sowon's phone and started scrolling through the messages she had sent him. a smile crept across his face. her messages were all over the place most of the time, but usually related to what was posted to his stories. looking at the messages, he felt he got to see a small glimpse of what her personality was like, and he found himself looking forward to getting to know her better.
finishing up reading the messages, he wondered which person would text him back first, sowon or jiyoung. he felt a weird sense of nervousness the more he thought of it as he navigated his way through the apps on sowon's phone.
he glanced at the notifications periodically, the feeling of giddiness rising in his chest as he waited. time had passed and it was starting to feel like almost forever since he had texted either one of them. the sky was beginning to darken and the street lamps were beginning to turn on.
after he had turned on the lights in the living room, he sank into the pillows of the couch, browsing through sowon's instagram account a little more. it had almost reminded him of jaemin's photography account. all of her pictures were fairly artsy and had a theme, making the page aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
finally, a notification appeared and it was from jiyoung. he sat straight up joyfully, rereading the message that she had texted him a few times.
"sorry, i missed your text! i'll be free whenever this week, which day were you thinking?" mark said out loud and then hesitated for a moment, then opened the message thread with her. taking a deep breath, he typed back that he was free the next morning if she was willing to go out then.
when he hit send, anticipation washed over him. moments later, the dots appeared, signaling she was typing. his heart began to race as he waited for her reply. would she be suprised by the message? he didn't know sowon at all, this was probably so out of character for her. it didn't seem like she had many friends, after all jiyoung was the only person in her messages when he woke up that morning. mark had never felt his emotions shift as quickly as he did in sowon's body.
jiyoung.
i would love to! what
do you have in mind?maybe we could grab some
coffee and catch up. let me know
what time works for you.i'll come pick you up
around 10, if that's all
good?sounds perfect, see you
then!relief washed over mark. as he sent the final message, he couldn't help but to smile. the unexpected situation of switching bodies was turning into a chance to have fun. he couldn't remember the last time he had this much freedom. it kind of made him anxious to have absolutely nothing to do.
he wondered how sowon was fairing in his body. that thought had reminded him that he had messaged sowon earlier that day and he was still waiting on a response. he quickly opened instagram to find the message thread, only to notice that sowon had indeed accepted the direct message but hadn't responded.
"not even a reply?" he chuckled to himself, amused by the irony of the situation. it was clear that sowon was likely trying to process everything just as he was. she showed that she was aware of the situation, but needed a little more time before confronting it head on.
he considered for just a moment in sending a follow up message, but decided against it. instead, he took a moment to just sit there and reflect. he had never thought that one day he would be living someone else's life for them, but for the time being that was his reality.
there was no guidebook to this. he only knew sowon's name and what she looks like, nothing really else. for tomorrow's meet up he was going to have to come up with a plan to get jiyoung to explain more about sowon, in a way that didn't make sowon look insane. that was going to be hard, but mark had something in mind and it might just work.
