Lizzie's P.O.V

"How this?" Grace asked Ada and me as she tried on the third potential dress.

"This one looks tight around your boobs," Ada said bluntly, something Grace was still not used to but bluntness was a signature for the Shelby's.  "Right, Lizzie?"

I clear my throat awakrdly sit. up straighter as Grace looks towards me for more of an honest opinion. "I think the first one you tried on was the best one, babe."

Grace sighed, "I only like the viel of that one, and the body of this one." She was being so picky, Ada and I have been stuck in this fucken store for the past three hours.

"Get it custom-made then," Ada argued standing up, "We have money now, get one designed now." She began to pack her things, "I am going home, Karl is probably past the point of annoying Polly." Ada turned to face me, "Lizzie, can you stay with her?"

My stomach began to hurt, I didn't want to be here in the first place, she had dragged me to help her manage her language with Grace and now she is leaving me.  "Um. . ."

"Please?"  Grace asked me, "Tommy said he will come after he is done with his business, then we can leave together."

"Fine," I say looking down at my hands, "Go, Ada,"

Ada quickly bid us goodbye as she rushed out of the store, leaving the two of us, "Alright, I'm going to try on one more,"

"Go," I say softly smiling at her. Grace smiled back at me and rushed to the back.

Things had gotten really good between her and Tommy really fast, even after the fact that Tommy and I had begun to see one another or sleep together when she left. Then she suddenly appeared and Tommy's love for her flourished again. I am happy for him, he was different when she was around,  and seemed genuinely happier.

Sure I had feelings for him, but my feelings were never accounted for in his books, weren't when he came back from War, weren't when he made me call of John. and I's wedding, or when he sent me to the soldier, or. . .

"Mr Shelby," The store teller said announcing his arrival. I looked over at him as he curtly nodded at him. Tommy. came to sit beside me clearing his throat as he lit a cigarette in the store, which had a clear rule. against it, but there wasnt any rules made for him.

"Where's Grace?" He asked me roughly.

"In the back,"  I cleared my throat, "She is trying on another dress."

"Right."

"Tommy!" Grace said excitedly as she. spun around in this gorgeous wedding dress,  with the most perfect sweetheart neckline. "How is it?"

Usually the groom isnt supposed to see the dress before the wedding,  but everything about this wedding is unconventional. "Wow," Tommy. said seeming as if he was mesmerized in her presence.

Feeling like a thrid wheel, which I clearly was, I stood up, "Since he is. here now, I think I should leave."

"No wait,"  Grace said, "I haven't exactly decided what dress I want to wear,  and I do not want Tommy to see me in the other potential selections.  So, just to get his opinion, would you mind trying them on?"

I blinked slowly registering what she had just asked me, "Grace," I scoffed, "No."

"But-"

"I said no," I snapped,

"Lizzie." Tommy cut in as things began to heat up.

I shook my head, "I have been here for the past three hours keeping my word that I will help you Grace,  I am not some servant who will try on your fucking dresses."
