MUCH LESS TO HER DESIRE, ESMERALDA WAS PARKED OUT IN FRONT OF THE CHATEAU. She hesitantly stepped out of her car. Closing the door to her Jeep, she stood by it for a few minutes. She could go back to her house, be holed up in her room, and not talk to a single soul for the rest of her day.
But no, here she was, about to go off on a little adventure with people who didn't like her. Esme swallowed her pride, walked toward the front door and knocked.
She clutched her purse tighter as the seconds went by. Esmeralda was growing impatient but the door swung open by none other than JJ himself.
"You came," he breathed out, not believing for a second that she had come. "You came?"
"In the flesh, baby." She popped a bubble with her gum, "So, are you going to let me in? Or am I gonna stand out here forever?" Her eyes locked with his blue ones, and for a second she felt her world stop, it felt right to be looking into his eyes, it gave her a sense of comfort.
"Yeah, come on, everyone is out back." He opened the door wide for her, Esmeralda hesitantly stepped inside, and immediately the smell of ax and sweat hit her nose. She fought back so hard to make a face.
JJ let her out back and all at once, the Pouges turned to look at her. She instantly became self-aware, she knew she didn't belong, at least not anymore.
Kiara was the first to speak, "Are you fucking kidding me right now, JJ?" She stood up and threw her hands up in the air. "What is she doing here?"
Esmeralda retorted back, "She is standing right here, bitch, don't act like I'm not standing five feet from you." Her arms crossed in front of her body. John B whistled and Pope awkwardly looked between the two girls.
"Hey! Hey! No need to start fighting ladies, we are all going to be nice, now let's hold hands and skip around like we are all one big happy family." Esmeralda and Kiara both looked at him with a blank expression. "Or not."
Esmeralda sighed, "What am I even doing here JJ?"
"Yeah, JJ, what is she doing here?"
John B stepped in before anyone could say anything else. "Look, I'm calling it off. All right? Peterkin said, "If I stay out of the marsh for a couple of days, she'll help me with DCS."
