Shadows of the past

Li Zhe's eyes locked onto Xiao Wan's, his voice barely above a whisper.

"I'll tell you everything. But promise me you'll listen with an open heart."

Xiao Wan nodded, her pulse racing.

Li Zhe began, his words painting a picture of his past.

"I met Victor in college. We were inseparable, partners in every sense. We built our company, Eclipse, from scratch."

Xiao Wan's eyes widened. "Eclipse? The hidden file?"

Li Zhe nodded. "Yes. Victor betrayed me, stole our research, and sold it to the highest bidder. I've been trying to rebuild, but..."

His voice cracked.

Xiao Wan's heart went out to him. "You don't have to continue."

Li Zhe's jaw clenched. "I need to. You need to understand."

He took a deep breath.

"Victor's obsession with power consumed him. He manipulated people, used them. I realized too late... I was just a pawn."

Xiao Wan's grip on Li Zhe's hand tightened.

"You're not alone now," she whispered.

Li Zhe's gaze met hers, emotions swirling.

"I've been running from my past, afraid to trust. But you... you make me want to face it."

Their eyes held, the air thick with tension.

Suddenly, Ling Ling burst in, "Uncle Li Zhe! I made a picture for Xiao Wan!"

The moment shattered.

Li Zhe smiled, taking the drawing. "Beautiful, Ling Ling."

Xiao Wan exhaled, her heart still racing.
