sorry for the long wait you guys, but i've been more than a little distracted by the new season of yabani as i'm sure you understand! i debated whether to continue this fic, but i couldn't leave you all hanging so i will keep writing :) the song for this chapter is "broken" by lifehouse. also i wrote most of this chapter before episode 41 premiered so the fact it parallels that episode so much is kinda wild.

Asi was too shaken up by the events of the day to sleep that night. The ghost of Alaz's touch wouldn't leave her alone. How many nights had she spent remembering how it felt to be held by him? How many times had she caressed her own cheek imagining it was his hand instead? Before she knew it, her alarm went off and she was forced to rise from bed. She always allowed Ece to sleep in a bit more by first getting herself ready and making breakfast. As she entered the kitchen and began preparing the food, she glanced out the window and could see a blurry figure on her porch.

Asi grabbed a kitchen knife as she pushed open the front door to confront whomever it was. She stopped short when she saw that it was Alaz. He was fast asleep sitting on one of the wooden chairs with his arms crossed and was wearing the same clothes from yesterday. Asi choked up at the realization that he had stayed there the entire night. She allowed herself to just look and drink him in for a few moments before clearing her throat loudly. Alaz woke with a start and when he looked and recognized it was Asi in front of him, he immediately stood and moved toward her.

"What are you doing here?" she asked.

"Where else could I go?" he said.

"I told you to leave me alone. What part of that don't you understand?"

"And I told you I couldn't. What part of that don't you understand? My heart is set on you, Asi, and that is something that will never change. I will happily spend the rest of my life chasing after you."

"You won't be able to catch me. I will never fall back into those arms again."

"I don't want to catch you, Asi, I want to earn you. I want to be worthy of you and our family."

They stared at each other for a moment and just like always, as if she was still that naive teenage girl, Asi felt herself getting lost in his eyes. So she did what she had to do, and pushed him forcefully away from her.

"We don't have a family, Alaz. We have nothing, okay, it's just me. Now get out of here. I don't have time for you. Not today, or any day."

She turned to go back inside, but he caught the door before she could shut it.

"Asi, look, I know you don't want to see me, but please, please just come see your brothers. I may deserve all this, but they don't. And you don't deserve to feel the pain of being separated from them for a moment longer."

She paused at the thought of Yaman and Cesur and the unintentional strife she had caused them. How had they managed over the years? What were their lives like now? Did they miss her as much as she had missed them? But if she were to come back into their lives now, there would undoubtedly be questions, and she didn't think she could come up with a satisfying answer.

"I haven't told them," Alaz said, as if sensing the reason for Asi's apprehension. "And I won't. Whatever you want to reveal and however you want to tell them, let it be on your time."

"I'll consider it," she said and closed the door.
