Siddharth decided that he wouldn't bridal carry Avneet into his house, as he was sure his parents would cause a huge fuss about it and tease him forever. Instead, he put his arm on Avneet's shoulder, while Avneet circled her arm around Siddharth's waist.

It took Avneet several minutes to walk from Siddharth's another baby (his BMW X5) to his house despite the short distance. But Siddharth could see that she has improved quite a lot now, slowly getting a hold of how walking works.

When Siddharth presses the doorbell, Avneet was very intrigued by the little electronic thingy that made such loud noises. So she pressed it repeatedly until someone opened the door.

"Who- sid? And who might you be? Why are you in my sons' clothes?" When Mrs Nigam opened the door, Siddharth swore he has never seen his mother looking so irritated. But her annoyed expression soon morphed to one with confusion and slight amusement.

"Mom, let us in first, I'll explain later." Mrs Nigam's eyes never the duo as Siddharth dragged Avneet across the living room. Avneet was grinning towards Siddharth's mother, waving happily while saying

"Hello Mrs Nigam, it's nice to meet you!" Before she got roughly thrown over Siddharth's shoulder when he took the stairs.

"Siddharth put me down, you idiot! You- oh wait never mind go on I can't walk on these steep strange things."

"Siddharth I'll call the family down for a meeting you better come down quickly with the girl you hear me?" Siddharth heard Mrs Nigam shout from downstairs, and he could only shake his head when he thought of the stupid grin that Viraj would have on his face.

Viraj has a stupid grin plastered on his face.

"Welcome to the third annual family emergency meeting! I am your host Viraj Nigam and today we are interrogating bro and his girlfriend-"

"Shut up raj she's not my girlfriend."

"This creature is your brother?"

Siddharth rolled his eyes. Creature indeed. A creature designed to annoy the fuck out of him.

"Everyone, meet Avneet Kaur. She's the mermaid veer uncle caught last night." The whole table was so silent after Siddharth dropped the fact bomb on them. Viraj's mouth was wide open, while his parents frowned so deep it would make the Marina trench look like a shallow plain.

Sensing the really awkward tension in the room, Siddharth nudged Avneet's arm urging hee to speak.

"Um. Hi guys! I am Avneet Kaur of the Pacific Clan, High Princess of the court. I can turn my tail into human legs at will, also I can manipulate water to some extent. It's a gift that came from the blue blood. I drenched sid back in the lab, didn't I siddo?" Avneet looked at Siddharth with a mischievous glint in her eyes, her smile on full display.

"Wow. You drenched sid? And bhai didn't kill you? How?" Viraj seemed to have put the wrong focus in what Avneet had said, finding it unfair that his brother has favouritism towards the new mermaid.

"Viraj shut up."

"Well, Avneet, it's nice to meet you. I hope you've liked the land so far. But forgive me for asking, can you... perhaps turn into a mermaid for us? You know... to confirm that it's true?" Mr Nigam smiled a bit tightly, voice gentle, but nevertheless the suspicion in his voice very obvious.

"I wouldn't recommend it. Her tail was badly hurt by the fishing hooks and knives. It might reopen his wound if she suddenly shifted." Siddharth explained quietly.
