Miguel Raffetò POV"Not broken, but you've got yourself a grade one wrist sprain. You'll need to rest it for the next 2-4 weeks and take it easy with your daily tasks."
I looked to Snow White sat on the edge of an examination bed, smiling sweetly up at the nurse as they bandaged up her wrist.
But she wasn't just Snow White anymore. No, she was Etta freakin Valentine. Of course she'd have the most adorable last name to accompany that beautiful first one.
Etta, Etta, Etta.
The name had been running around my mind since the moment she told me of it.
"Thank you for your help and sorry if I burdened you. I'm sure you have more important patients to attend to rather than me with a silly sprain of the wrist." Etta stood up as the nurse responded to her. I'm not sure what they said though, because I'm currently wondering why this girl is so damn adamant to downplay being shoved to the ground by some petty criminal.
If I was there....
After realising I was frowning to myself, I stepped forward and picked up Etta's jacket to help her put it on.
She smiled at the offer, accepting it with a small blush painted upon her cheeks. She really does do that a lot.
"Right, well Miss Valentine, whilst your boyfriend collects your belongings, could you come and sign a few papers for me please?"
Etta stuttered, that pink staining her perfect face deepening as she tried to formulate a response. It's okay though, because I beat her to it.
"Before we do that, please may I have a word with you outside?" The nurse smiled, responding with a bubbly "yes" before leading me to the hallway.
I flashed Etta a reassuring toothy grin - as well as a cheeky wink - and left the room.
"How can I help you sir? If it's regarding your girlfriend, then I can assure you that her wrist is more than likely to make a full and speedy recovery."
I smiled at the ginger woman, my eyes briefly flicking to the hospital rooms window where Etta was now sat with a confused frown on her face. Cute.
"Thank you for your assurance, though what I wanted to say was that I'm paying for Etta's hospital bills today."
The woman's green eyes sparkled as her eye wrinkles creased. "I'm assuming you're telling me this in private because you don't want her to know."
I flashed her a charming grin and nodded. "Yes. And also because that woman in there is not yet my girlfriend so I'm worried she'll see this as me overstepping." So what if I have high hopes for this flourishing relationship? Can't help being a passionate man.
Her brows quirked in lighthearted suspicion. "Your actions are pure, no ulterior motives?"
"Absolutely. My intentions are crystal clear, she's just had a hard day and this is the least I can do for her. I mean, the girl was adamant she didn't wanna come here but I made sure she did."
The woman's face softened as she pouted before tutting. "Oh, young love...." She gave me the oven over before giving in. "Fine, your secret is safe with me. Just go see Sally on the desk and she'll sort you out hun."
