I couldn't believe what had happened yesterday. I had danced with Chan! I couldn't get his voice out of my head when the song ended. "Wow! "That was really good!" he said. And then we even took a photo on stage. He posted it on Instagram this morning and tagged my account underneath it. I couldn't think of anything else since then.
My roommates had pushed me towards the stage when Chan picked me out. Before that, I had a long eye contact with him. It was a wonderful feeling to dance with my favorite singer from Stray Kids, my bias. And he looked so good yesterday too.
What was I even thinking about? I finally had a boyfriend! I wasn't even a little bit in love with Chan, was I? No, definitely not!
Then my cell phone rang, pulling me out of my thoughts. It was Yejun. My boyfriend. "Hi," I greeted him. He lived like me and my roommates in the children's home in Korea. In Seoul to be precise. Since the Stray Kids concert was in Japan, I flew to Japan with my friends, my roommates, for the weekend. We would only fly back today.
"Was that really you at the concert yesterday?!" Yejun asked incredibly. "Yes!!" I said and smiled. Yejun was also a stay. His bias was Seungmin. "Wow!" his eyes lit up like they always did when he was excited. It looked cute. "You looked really good! But have you seen that Chan posted a picture of the two of you on Insta? And have you seen the many videos of your dancing? It's going completely viral!" "Of course I've seen it all, but I still can't believe it," I said and had to laugh a little.
Since Yejun was a Stray Kids fan himself, he thought it was okay if I had a bit of a crush on Chan. He himself often raved about idols from girl groups such as Rosé from Black Pink or Ruka from Babymonster. After all, we both knew that we would never get there.
"When are you home?" he asked. The word "home" resonated hollowly within me. Every time I heard that word, terrible memories came flooding back to me. After all, there were reasons why I grew up in a children's home. It was my new home and I liked it. I liked the people who lived with me.
I forced the memories back into the darkest corners of my brain. "I think we'll be back around 7 p.m." Yejun smiled, making me automatically smile back. "See you later! I miss you!" he said. "Same to you! See you later!" I said before hanging up.
I was very lucky to have Yejun as my boyfriend. He had bad boy vibes, but actually he was the complete opposite. He was kind and sweet. He could be a real baby girl.
Ahri, Aiko, Grace and Angelina came into my room. They were my friends and roommates at the same time. While I had already met Angelina in Germany, I only knew the other three since I lived in Korea.
Since kindergarten, Angelina and I had always traveled together. But in fifth grade her family moved to America, where her family got into an accident a few weeks after I moved to the children's home in Korea. Angelina was the only one who survived. Since we have stayed in touch over the years, she expressed a desire to come to me. To Korea.
Ahri was Korean. She lived in Korea her entire life and was given up for adoption by her parents at birth.
Grace came from England but moved to Korea with her parents, her sister Amy and her grandparents when Grace was seven years old. Her grandparents died early. Her parents and Amy died in a house fire when Grace herself wasn't home.
Aiko came from Japan. She had lived by the sea in Japan, close to the Korean border. When her parents died in a car accident, she and her brother decided to make a new start in Korea.
And then there was me. I also wanted to make a new start in Korea. I just never felt really welcome anywhere. Not in my old class and not with my family either. I only had one friend at school until the end. Her name was Sophia. She had always supported me and I missed her very much. We hadn't seen each other for two and a half years, but we spoke on the phone once a week.
But I didn't feel too comfortable in my new class either. People from the children's home were not well respected at my school. I was even happier that there were Aiko, Grace, Angelina and Ahri, who all went to my class and just sat on my bed right now.
"I'm looking forward to going home!" said Aiko happily. It was a big effort for her to come to Japan. "Me too," I said.
Then the message tone sounded on my cell phone. Probably Yejun, I thought, although I wasn't nearly as happy as I used to be. I immediately thought of Bang Chan again. I looked at my phone. It wasn't a message from Yejun, but a notification from Instagram.
I opened the app. Someone wrote to me on Insta. When I opened the mailbox, my mouth fell open. I looked at my friends who were looking over my shoulder. They looked just as surprised. I looked at my phone again. Bang Chan actually wrote to me on Insta!
I opened the chat. "Hi, you're Y/N, the girl I danced with, right?" Grace read aloud. "Answer him!" Aiko urged. "What should I write? Just "Yes?" I asked for help. My friends just nodded so I wrote »Yes 🙃«. »I was wondering if we might want to meet up sometime? I was very impressed by the way you danced. I would like to get to know you better 🙂,« Chan wrote.
My eyes were glowing, just like last night when Chan picked me. The others were almost freaking out. »Sure,« I wrote, »When would it suit you?« »The day after tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.?« »Ok. How about we meet at the entrance to the church park in Seoul?« »That's great 👍«
I turned to my friends with wide eyes. "I'm meeting Chan the day after tomorrow!!!" "We have to celebrate!" said Angelina.
