Shubman wasn't exactly a sports enthusiast, but when his best friend Ishan begged him to come along to the basketball game, he found himself agreeing without much thought.
How could he say no to those puppy-dog eyes Ishan always gave him? Besides, he knew that spending time with Ishan would be more entertaining than anything happening on the court.
As they settled into their seats, Shubman watched as Ishan's eyes lit up with excitement.
Ishan was practically bouncing in his chair, wearing his favorite team's jersey that was just a little too big for him, making him look even more adorable.
Shubman couldn't help but smile at the sight.
"Thanks for coming with me, Shubb!" Ishan said, giving Shubman a playful nudge.
"Yeah, yeah," Shubman said with a mock grumble. "I'm only here because you promised to buy me nachos."
"Deal's a deal," Ishan said with a grin. "But you're gonna love this game. Trust me!"
Shubman wasn't so sure about that, but he was more interested in watching Ishan anyway.
The way Ishan's face lit up every time his team scored a basket or how he'd groan dramatically when they missed—it was impossible not to be charmed by his enthusiasm.
As the game went on, they joked, laughed, and threw popcorn at each other.
Shubman was having more fun than he'd care to admit, especially when he caught himself smiling at how cute Ishan looked whenever he pouted after his team made a bad play.
During a break in the game, the arena's camera started to pan around, zooming in on different couples in the audience. The crowd cheered and whooped each time the infamous kiss cam landed on a pair, encouraging them to share a kiss for the big screen.
Shubman didn't pay it much attention—until he felt Ishan's eyes on him.
"Shubb, don't look now, but..." Ishan said, barely containing his laughter.
"What?" Shubman turned to Ishan in confusion, and then he saw it—his own face plastered on the huge screen above the court, right next to Ishan's grinning face.
The kiss cam had landed on them!
The crowd around them erupted into cheers and whistles, and Shubman's eyes widened in shock.
He opened his mouth to protest, to say something—anything—but Ishan was already leaning in closer, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"Come on, Shub." Ishan said, his voice playful but soft. "Don't be shy. It's just for fun."
Shubman felt his heart race, and he was sure his cheeks were turning redder than a stoplight.
But he couldn't back down now, not with Ishan looking at him like that. "You're serious?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Dead serious." Ishan teased, his eyes twinkling. "Unless you're too chicken."
Oh, that did it. Shubman never backed down from a challenge, especially not when Ishan was the one throwing it at him.
