Day: Tuesday

The next morning arrived with a suffocating heaviness in the air, like the calm before a storm. Sameer, Naina, and Siddarth met early at their usual café, the tables crowded with people oblivious to the shadows creeping closer. As they sipped their steaming cups of chai, their minds raced with possibilities.

"Aaj humein is case ka kisi aur pehlu par dhyan dena hoga," Sameer said, determination flickering in his eyes. (Today we need to focus on another aspect of this case.)

Naina nodded, her expression thoughtful. "Mujhe lagta hai humein unke parivaar se baat karni chahiye. Shayad unke zindagi mein kuch aur raaz ho." (I think we should talk to their families. Maybe there are other secrets in their lives.)

"Acha idea hai," Siddarth agreed, tapping his fingers on the table. "Par humein ye bhi dekhna hoga ki inka koi sambandh hai kisi aur incident se." (Good idea. But we also need to see if there's any connection to another incident.)

After finishing their breakfast, they set off towards Preeti's home, their hearts heavy with the weight of what they might uncover. The winding streets of Dadar felt alive, filled with the chatter of vendors and the aroma of fresh pav bhaji wafting through the air. But the joy of the surroundings felt distant, overshadowed by their grim task.

"Kya tumne kabhi unhe dekha hai?" Naina asked Sameer as they walked. (Have you ever seen them?)

"Bas unki tasveeren dekhi hain, par mujhe lagta hai woh khush ladkiyan thi," Sameer replied, memories of the photographs flashing in his mind. (I've only seen their pictures, but they seemed to be happy girls.)

As they approached Preeti's building, a sense of foreboding settled over them. The structure loomed ominously, its paint peeling and the windows darkened by sorrow.

"Kya hum yahan jaanch karne se pehle kuch soch lein?" Siddarth suggested, his voice barely above a whisper. (Should we think twice before checking here?)

"Haan, par humein kya karna hai? Agar hum kuch nahi karte, toh hum kabhi sach nahi jaan payenge," Sameer replied, steeling his resolve. (Yes, but what should we do? If we do nothing, we'll never know the truth.)

With a deep breath, they entered the building. The atmosphere inside was thick with an air of despair, each step echoing their unease. They approached the door to Preeti's apartment and hesitated for a moment before knocking.

A woman answered—a petite figure with tired eyes and unkempt hair, her face lined with grief. "Kya chahiye aapko?" she asked, suspicion creeping into her voice. (What do you want?)

"Aunty, hum news reporters hain. Kya hum aap se thodi baat kar sakte hain?" Sameer said gently, hoping to ease her tension. (Aunty, we are news reporters. Can we talk to you for a bit?)

The woman's eyes narrowed, but she stepped aside, allowing them to enter. "Teek hai, par mere paas zyada samay nahi hai," she replied, her voice heavy with sorrow. (Fine, but I don't have much time.)

They settled in the modest living room, cluttered with photographs and memories. Sameer noticed a framed picture of Preeti, her bright smile capturing a moment of joy amidst the darkness surrounding them.

"Aunty, humne suna hai ki Preeti kuch samasyaon se guzar rahi thi. Kya aap kuch bata sakti hain?" Naina asked softly. (Aunty, we've heard that Preeti was going through some issues. Can you tell us anything?)

The woman sighed deeply, her eyes welling with tears. "Woh bohot samay se akele mehsoos karti thi. Usse dosti chahiye thi, par uski dosti kahin aur gayi." (She felt alone for a long time. She needed friends, but her friendships went somewhere else.)

"Kya aap samajhti hain ki unhe koi dhamki di gayi thi?" Siddarth asked, leaning forward. (Do you think she was threatened by someone?)

The woman hesitated, her gaze drifting to the floor. "Mujhe laga ki kisi ne use stalk kiya hai. Usne kuch din pehle mujhe kuch bataya tha, par maine dhyan nahi diya." (I thought someone was stalking her. She told me something a few days ago, but I didn't pay attention.)

As they pressed her for details, Sameer's heart raced with each revelation. It became clear that Preeti and Swati were not just victims; they were entangled in something darker, something that extended far beyond their cheerful façades.

"Humein unke doston se milna hoga," Naina insisted, determination burning in her eyes. (We need to meet their friends.)

"Acha, par is baar humein savdhaan rehna hoga," Sameer warned. (Okay, but this time we have to be careful.)

As they left the apartment, a storm brewed in the distance, dark clouds rolling in to blanket the city once more.

"Agar humne kisi ka dhyan nahi diya, toh yeh sab kuch khatam ho sakta hai," Siddarth said, a chill in his voice. (If we don't pay attention to this, it could all end badly.)

"Hum kuch nahi hone denge," Naina asserted, her resolve unwavering. (We won't let anything happen.)

As they ventured back into the streets, the weight of their mission grew heavier. They had opened a door into a world where danger lurked in the shadows, where friendships could turn deadly, and where every smile could hide a dark secret.

With each step, they moved deeper into the andheron ki gharai, ready to confront the darkness that awaited them.
