Chapter 9
Jenna’s POV
It just seems like my life is falling apart. All the drama around me is just overwhelming. I just want to curl up in a corner and just crumble to pieces. For some reason, I feel like I’ve been stuck under a thousand feet underwater. I can’t breathe. I need to let go of my past and move on. Adam is dead to me. It’s time to focus on the now. Now, in his arms. Niall’s arms. He’s helped me through so much. He’s my best friend.
I looked at him looking like a mess. He smiled. His smile warmed my heart. “Thanks.” I said in a soft, gentle voice.
He slightly chuckled. “For what?”
I sighed and rested my head on his chest. “For always being there for me.” He hugged me even tighter, and I didn’t care. All I wanted right now was some company and that’s what I have but even better.
“Alright so, how ‘bout that date I told you about yesterday?” He asked me, raising his right eyebrow.
“Date?” I gave him a confused look.
“Oh. The thingy I told you about yesterday. The ‘hanging out’ thing.” I quickly remembered what he had said about us hanging out. “No! I’m not ready. Just let me go-” Before I could finish my sentence, he picked me up and put me over his shoulder. “Put me down!” I yelled. He threw me inside the car and locked the doors, so I couldn’t escape.
“No! I didn’t shower!” I kept trying to get the door to open, but it was no use. He was laughing evilly. “Niall! Where are you taking me?” He wouldn’t answer. He kept the smirk on his face. I frowned and cross my arms. I looked at him with the puppy dog pout.
“It’s not working!” I huffed and cross my arms again. I leaned back and rested my feet on the dashboard, but they were soon pushed off by Niall’s hands. “Hey! Feet off my baby!” I laughed at his remark. “Baby? Since when do you have a baby?” He chuckled. “Since I got her.” I slapped his arm playfully.

We reached a beautiful, sandy beach. The sand was a creamy color and the water was a clear blue. We approached the sea shore. I could feel the warm sand between my toes as we were walking. As soon as I saw the water, I made a run for it. I splashed around in the water like a madman. I didn’t care about the people who were watching or what I was wearing. I just wanted to enjoy today. I stood wading in the water. Little fish were swimming around my feet and nibbling at my toes, it tickled. I looked over my shoulder to see Niall smiling at me, sitting on a blanket with his hands behind him. I ran out of the water and tackled him in a hug. “Thank you.” I said. He chuckled and tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear.
We looked into each other’s eyes and I lost myself in his blue ones. They were similar to the color of the water behind us with specks of a darker blue in them. I gulped and choked on my saliva, followed by coughing, interrupting the moment. He let out a slight laugh.
“Ah, sorry.” I climbed off of him and sat next to him peacefully looking out into the ocean. I brought my knees up to my chest and rested my chin between my knees.

Niall’s POV
I watched her play in the water. She was cute. Her hair was down, just flowing in the wind. She looked at me over her shoulder and came running at me and tackled me. “Thank you.” I heard her say. I gazed into her eyes as she did mine. Her eyes were big, brown, and beautiful with a touch of hazel. I tucked her hair behind her ear and I have to say she had some cute ears, too.
She started coughing non-stop and I laughed. She climbed off of me and continued looking out at the beautiful scenery. She looked at her once in a while. “Wanna grab a bite?” I asked, breaking the silence. She nodded in reply and we made our way to the food court. “I’m craving nachos.” I heard. I turned to look at her and once again saw her cute puppy dog pout.
