Another day came, it was indeed a very refreshing morning: cold breeze, and ethereal sunrise. Dr. Dan was all ready and was prepared to go to the dental clinic.

About fifteen minutes later, he stopped at a street in front of a gated apartment. Minute after, a woman exited the gate, waved, and smiled upon seeing the car.

"Hi DENT, my love," she said as she entered the car and kissed Dr. Dan's lips.

"What did you eat this breakfast?"

"I had some tuna and egg," she replied.

"What about yours?"

"Bacon and fried rice."

Half an hour later, the car stopped and parked in front of a hospital building. The woman kissed Dr. Dan and said "Goodbye, Dent my love. Will see you later."

"I love you, Liz, my love." Dan said. "See you later."

The woman finally stepped out into the car and got inside the building. When Dr. Dan had noticed that he could no longer see the figure of his partner, he then drove the car and left.

Several minutes had passed. The assistant heard a screech of tire and the sound of it being parked. Dr. Dan finally stepped out from the car and made sure it was properly locked.

He then marched going inside the clinic.

SILVER LINING DENTAL CLINIC

Your smile brings hope and joy

Daniel Edward N. Treponemas, DMD

The clinic was all prepared. It was cleaned. The room was well-ventilated, and its scents same as lavenders.

The sword of the clock finally pointed at 9 o'clock sharp. A dentist arrived at the clinic.

"Hey, bro,"

"Ey, bro Eijay, wassup," said Dr. Dan. "You're here,"

"Oh, hi Dr. Lipay," greeted Ma'am Leah. "Good morning!"

"Yeah, was bored today," said the other dentist. "My next appointment is still at 2 in the afternoon. So, I came to visit and maybe have some look of the patient's condition about something that you mentioned in the GC last night."

"Oh yeah, about that---" said Dr. Dan. "Here's what I found in the radiograph."

Dr. Dan opened the drawer in the cabinet and picked the brown envelope and took out a piece of a radiograph.

"Here's what I found on the radiograph---" discussed Dr. Dan. "Bone loss on tooth #14, 15, until almost middle third of the root; Type 3 mobility on tooth #31, #41; Severe caries on tooth #44, 45, 46; Pulpal Necrosis on tooth #22; and Missing tooth #21."

"Oh yeah, I see it," spoke Eijay.

"I haven't discussed the full details about this case on the groupchat but here is my plan---" tackled Dr. Dan. "Dr. Carlameran will manage the bone loss on tooth #14 and #15. Then Dr. Senogara will handle his root canal therapy on tooth #22. Next is Dr. Cuspahon to extract his tooth #31 and #41. Then I will let Dr. Zibonga to put some braces on him. Lastly, after everything's managed and done, then I will let you, Dr. Eijay, bro, to put a fixed partial denture on his upper teeth."

Several minutes had passed, and then Mr. Monterazas finally arrived at the clinic. Last visit, Dr. Treponemas only performed an oral prophylaxis or most known as cleaning to Mr. Slater as his schedule was a little hectic because he had a business meeting to attend, and he only allotted at least 30 minutes for the dental visit.

When Dr. Dan was all set, he then proceeded to do the procedure of removing the cavities of Mr. Monterazas.

First thing he did was he excavated the cavities or black parts of the teeth using bur and a handpiece. These are the devices that are used to remove structure of the teeth. While doing the procedure, he was performing it securely making sure that there was no soft debris of yellow or black structure as this would signify that the teeth still have bacteria present so they must be removed completely.

The next thing that Dr. Dan did was put a bluish gel-like substance on the patient's teeth. Sir Slater tasted some bitterness on his tongue. After 15 seconds, Dr. Dan washed the substance away and then dried the teeth.

After that, Dr. Dan put some adhesives on the deep cavities. Then he was now handling a stick-like device that emitted blue light. Honestly, the patient was mesmerized and was kind of curious about it. Fortunately, Sir Slater wore a goggle to protect his eyes from the light. Then he placed some calcium hydroxide which is a substance that produces layer above the nerve of the tooth so that the patient will not feel any sensitivity or pain. Then for another time, he pulled the lightstick.

The next step was that Dr. Dan placed increments of composites (a dental material that copies or mimics the shades and the structure of the teeth) then proceeded to fill the excavated area. Dr. Dan kept curing the teeth after each increment. When Dr. Dan was finished building up, he then shaped the structure of the tooth to its normal and original form. When he knew that the anatomic crown was already good, he then polished the treated teeth.

Dusk finally came and there were no longer patients in the clinic.

At half past five, Dr. Dan had left the dental clinic and drove the car off to fetch his girlfriend.

"How's work?" asked Dan.

"Exhausted but at least it's done for today," she replied.

Her ID hanged on her neck and Dr. Dan saw it:

Analiz Jane D. Alcazar

"Let's have dinner at Tamper Cafe," suggested Dan.

"Sure,"

There, they arrived the cafe and had their dinner. Liz ordered her usual favorite which is Leek & Saffron Cream w/ Fillet of Cream Dory, and Sangria tea and she enjoyed it.

"I am so excited about our upcoming travel to Taiwan on our 24th monthsary,"

"Uhm--- about that---" explained Dan. "I actually can't make it because the patient is scheduled for his treatment, and he has no other time as they need to go somewhere outside the country."

"But you promised!"

"I know but---" said Dan in a very gentle note. "But I have to take care of my patient. How about we reschedule our celebration instead?"

"No! This is the only thing I asked," said Analiz and her face a little distorted because of the expression of disappointment. "You know what, I've been wanting to tell you this lately. You know you fetch me every day, but there are little things that mattered the most to me. And you didn't do any of them. Maybe you should know about silent quitting."

"What do you mean?" asked Dan curiously.

"Nothing, you won't get it even if I will explain it. " She said. "If you want to then you would."

"Liz, please---"

Liz left the table, went outside and drove off with a taxi.

Dr. Dan went immobile on the café because something that Liz said earlier lingered on his mind:

"I don't know what's more important to you. Is it duty for clinic or duty for love?"
