ALANA ALEXANDRA MILLER

I wake up abruptly to the unpleasant sound of my phone's alarm, and I reach over to the nightstand to pick up the phone and turn off the alarm. A sigh of relief escapes me as the piercing noise fades into silence. I fixed my alarm for 8 a.m. since my new school starts at 9:40 a.m., and I know that I need at least an hour to get ready.

I go to my dressing room to choose an outfit for today, and then I go to my bathroom, which I realize is the place in my room that I spend the most time in since I moved here on Saturday. I place the outfit on the marble sink of my bathroom, and I brush my teeth before taking a shower.

I come out of the shower ten minutes later, and I put on my outfit, which is a light blue flare-leg jeans and a black jacket with a white tank top underneath. It is a simple and comfortable outfit that is going to help me blend in with the crowd.

I tie my dark wavy hair into a high ponytail and start doing my skincare. When I'm done, I do my regular makeup, which is a bit of concealer, liquid blush, highlighter, and clear mascara. I also apply some pinkish nude lip liner and a vanilla-scented lip balm to my lips.

Then, I put a white Van Cleef & Arpels necklace around my neck and a matching bracelet on my wrist. I also put on a gold YSL bracelet that goes well with the other bracelet and put on a vanilla-scented perfume. After that, I place my things back where they belong and leave the bathroom.

I check the time on my phone and notice that I have 30 minutes left before I have to leave. So I go to the desk in my bedroom to grab my iPad, AirPods, and wallet, and I put everything in my backpack. I also go to take my photo on my nightstand, and after that, I leave the room with my backpack on and walk towards the staircase.

I walk down the stairs quickly and step into the spacious living room. After a short walk, I reach the kitchen, which is adjacent to the large dining room.

I walk into the kitchen and see Ethan eating a Nutella toast with a Red Bull on the side while watching TikToks on his phone. He probably heard me coming into the kitchen because he looked up and gave me a small smile while greeting me with a good morning. I return the greeting and go sit beside him on the kitchen counter.

"Are you ready?" He asks me.

"Yeah."

"You don't eat?" he asks while biting another bite of his toast, and I nod.

"You should probably eat. There's a lot of things in the fridge, he tells me, not giving up on the subject.

"Yeah, I guess," I say, getting up from the chair and going to find something to eat.

I take out a large packet of yogurt from the fridge and also take out the pack of strawberries that I ate yesterday, and I take a banana from the fruit bowl on the counter. I grab a bowl from the kitchen cabinets and put the yogurt and then the fruit in it. Then I grabbed a spoon and improvised breakfast.

"Do you want to go to Starbucks before going to school?"

"For sure," I answer happily.

"We'll go when you're done eating." He said while taking another sip of Red Bull.

I nod and continue eating. When I finish, I go to wash my bowl and follow Ethan, who is heading towards the front door.
He goes out before me, and when I come out the door, I close the door behind me. Then, I press the lock button, which locks the front door automatically, and I follow Ethan to what seems like his car, which is a red Ferrari. He unlocks the car with his phone and opens the driver's side door.

I open the passenger side, and when I get into the car, I put my bag in front of my leg. Ethan hands me his phone so that I can choose the music in the car, but I tell him to put whatever he wants. He puts on a song that I don't recognize by Travis Scott, and he starts the car.

He sets the GPS to a Starbucks near the school and starts driving. 20 minutes later, we arrive at the Starbucks drive-thru, and I order an iced white chocolate mocha with pumpkin cream cold foam while Eths has a cup of water. When we finish our order, the person I was talking to tells us to come forward to pay, and a girl about my age opens the window.

"Do you pay with a card or cash?"

"Card," Ethan replies, eying the curly-haired girl.

She takes out the black payment terminal from behind the window, and Ethan pulls out his phone to pay with Apple Pay. When we hear the confirmation sound that the transaction was successful, she closes the window and comes back a few minutes later with my drink and Ethan's cup of water.

"Have a great day." She says, winking at Ethan, and he smirks, asking for her phone number.

She gives him her number, and then he leaves the drive-thru and puts the GPS to our school. When we arrive in front of the private high school, Ethan drives to the student parking lot and stops the red car in a private parking place reserved for him. When he turns off the car, I unfasten my belt and immediately get out of the car. I walk towards the school entrance, and I look anxiously at the huge modern building the size of a university campus, filled with students.

My heart starts to beat faster in my chest, and I feel like I'm going to throw up. I think that Ethan sees that I am not looking well since he puts his hands on my shoulder and tells me to take a deep breath.

I restart walking towards the school's main door with him, and we part ways shortly after so that he can go see his friends. When I'm inside the building, I instantly head to my locker without looking at anyone.

I compose my locker's code on the small screen, and the locker opens immediately after. I take my phone out of the back pocket of my pants and check what my first lesson is:

I take one of my notebooks and my pencil case out of my locker, and I put my stuff in my Nike backpack. After that, I close my locker and start walking to the main stairs, but before I can reach the stairs, a girl with light blonde hair and light blue eyes comes up to me.

She smiles at me and says,

"Hi, I'm Sabrina Lapoire. Are you the new student from New York?" The girl with a thick French accent says.

I look at her a little bit confused as to how she knows this information, but fortunately, she explains by saying:

"I have to make sure that you get to your classes without any confusion and such."

"Oh okay, I think I'm going to be fine, but thanks thought," I tell the girl who's analyzing me.

"Well, I have to help you." She says, placing an arm around my shoulder and moving me away from the staircase.
"We just have to go to my locker first."

I follow her unwantedly, and when we reach her locker, which is not too far from mine, she opens the gray locker and takes her iPad, a binder, and a pen out of her purple backpack.

Just as Sabrina is about to say something, the bell rings, and a ton of students head toward the main stairs.

She looks at me and tells me to follow her. I follow her since the number of students in the hallway is increasing every second, and it's making me nervous.

She heads toward the end of a hallway, and I walk next to her without saying a word. We arrive in front of a big black door, and she pushes open the door. It is a staircase, and we walk up the stairs that are almost empty. When we arrive at the second floor, Sabrina opens a door that gets us to the middle of a long hallway.

I look at my phone and see that we only have two minutes left before the second bell rings. The hallway is full of students going to their classes, and I follow Sabrina, who's also going to the left side of the hallway.

She grabs my wrist and helps me move forward since most of the students get out of her way when she passes by.

The number of students is getting smaller every second that passes, and my stress suddenly increases when the final bell rings.

Shit, I'm late.
