Two years have passed since Xavier died. Sylus has taken his role of "protector" a little too literally. I never thought I'd say this, but Sylus and I have been dating for a while now. I live in the N109 zone, but I still go to work every day, and I usually take public transport. Most of the time, Sylus gives me a ride on his motorcycle, but other days I just take the bus.
It was morning, and the sunlight was starting to fill the room. Sylus had just come home from work, looking like a black crow, always working nights. He entered the room, stripped down to just his boxers, and then lay behind me, pulling me closer by the waist, my back pressed against his chest. He inhaled the scent of my shampoo.
"Always trying to act cool, huh?" I teased, trying to push him away as a joke, but he tightened his grip.
"Stop being a brat... kitten," he murmured into my hair.
"You're taking up too much space in bed, leave me some room," I complained.
"That's what you said last night," Sylus chuckled.
"Hey! You jerk," I muttered, blushing a little.
"Come on, just let me enjoy this moment," Sylus said.
"Tch—fine," I said.
We had this playful dynamic between us, a sort of "cat and mouse" game that I secretly loved. He could be annoying sometimes, but he's the most loyal person I know. And yeah, I kinda love him, even if I'm too embarrassed to admit it outright.
I still think about Xavier sometimes. I miss him every day, but I know that we'll meet again one day. I visit the mountain where he died now and then. The grass is getting taller there—I might ask Sylus to get someone to cut it.
After a few minutes, Sylus went to cook breakfast, and I followed him. I often felt small next to him, which made sense since he's 6'2" (190 cm), while I'm just 5'5" (170 cm). It's not my fault he's so tall. He teases me about it sometimes, and I pretend to be mad until he makes it up with a kiss. We ate together, and then we left the house as he was giving me a ride to work.
"Hold on tight, kitten," he said, handing me the helmet.
"You don't have to tell me twice, you always drive so fast," I complained.
"Oh, then this time I'll drive even faster—just for you, kitten," he chuckled.
I climbed onto the motorcycle and wrapped my arms tightly around his waist. After some gasps and terrifying moments, we finally arrived at my workplace.
"Thanks," I said, taking off my helmet and handing it back to him.
"You're welcome," he replied.
I started to walk away, but Sylus grabbed my wrist.
"Aren't you forgetting something?... kitten?" he asked, leaning against the motorcycle.
"No, I have everything," I replied.
"Oh, so you're not going to kiss your boyfriend? The one who gave you a ride on his motorcycle? Also, I didn't get any sleep because your poor boyfriend was working all night," he said dramatically.
"You always put on a show. Lean in, and maybe I'll give you a kiss," I said, blushing.
"Or you could just grow taller," he teased.
"Hey! Stop being an idiot, come on," I whined.
"Go on, try to reach me," Sylus smirked.
I stood on my tiptoes, trying to reach his mouth, but of course, I couldn't. Sylus just laughed and patted my head.
"The kitten is really short," he laughed.
"Hey! For real, I'm not going to kiss you anymore. And don't come to me when you're horny at night. You're as annoying as when we first—" Sylus kissed me, cutting me off mid-sentence.
After a long kiss, he pulled away.
"Come on, don't be so grumpy. You know I care about you, kitten," he said, ruffling my hair.
I blushed and looked at him. "Fine. Bye." As Sylus was still leaning down, I took advantage of the moment and gave him a quick kiss on the lips.
"Don't miss me too much," I said, smirking.
"Bye, kitten. I'll pick you up later. Work hard," he said before putting his helmet back on.
I laughed and walked into my workplace. Is he a bastard? Yes. Do I love him? Yes. Is he my bastard? Absolutely.
