Catalina's POV

I sat cross-legged on my bed, the sunlight filtering through the curtains, my phone propped up in front of me as I FaceTimed Adriana.

My mind was spinning, a whirlwind of panic and frustration.
"I can't believe this is happening," I muttered.

"Rafe knows everything, Adriana. He went through my phone-
he could ruin us."

On the screen, Adriana was lounging on her bed, scrolling through Instagram like I hadn't just told her that our lives could be over.
"Catalina, relax," she said casually, not even looking up. "Your dad is the most powerful man in this town. Everyone knows that. Rafe won't do shit. He's just bluffing."

"But what if he's not?" I shot back, running my fingers through my hair in frustration. "What if he tells people? What if it comes out that we've been—" I couldn't even finish the sentence. The thought of everyone knowing the truth, that I wasn't the "perfect, untouchable girl" they thought I was, made me sick.

Adriana finally looked up, raising an eyebrow. "He's obsessed with you, Catalina. That's why he's doing this. He's trying to get into your head, and you're letting him. Trust me, he won't say anything. He's just enjoying the power trip."

I slumped onto the bed, feeling no better. "We should quit," I said quietly. "We should just stop everything before it gets worse.
I can't keep doing this."

Adriana's face softened for a moment, then she sighed. "Fine.
One last time, and then we're done.
We'll never talk about it again."
I nodded, though the pit in my stomach didn't go away. "One last time. At the end of this week."

The tension between Rafe and me hadn't let up. He'd been in school all week, yet we managed to avoid each other like we had some unspoken agreement. I mean..we did. I'd see him across the halls, laughing with friends, pretending like he didn't hold my future in his hands.

Sofia, however, hadn't shown up for almost a week, which only made the gossip worse. Everyone knew about Rafe and Sofia—they weren't exactly subtle, but it didn't make sense. She'd been practically glued to his side at the party, and then nothing.

Until today.

I was sitting in the cafeteria with Adriana when I saw them—Sofia and Rafe—walking in together. It was like time slowed down, the air between us thick with tension. Rafe had that casual, cocky walk as he led Sofia over to one of the tables on the other side of the room. They were with the group that had peeled away from us since that party. The group was still cool with us, but somehow everyone knew Rafe and I couldn't sit at the same table without causing drama.

Sofia looked... furious. Even from across the cafeteria, I could feel her eyes burning into me, as if she was daring me to look back. I didn't need to guess why. It was written all over her face. Rafe probably told her some bullshit at the party so he could come out as innocent as possible, making me look bad.

Adriana noticed her glaring too, smirking as she leaned back in her chair, clearly entertained. "She looks like she wants to kill you," Adriana said, her voice low but amused. "I'd watch out."

Rafe, sensing Sofia's mood, leaned in closer to her, trying to distract her. He kissed her on the cheek, whispered something in her ear, but it wasn't working. Sofia's jaw was clenched, her entire body stiff with anger.

Then, without warning, she grabbed a drink off the table and stood up. Her eyes locked onto me, fury blazing behind them. I tensed as she started walking towards our table, but I didn't flinch. I wasn't about to give her the satisfaction of seeing me squirm.

Adriana, sensing the impending drama, sat up straighter, a wicked grin spreading across her face. "I fucking dare you, bitch." she called out.

I stayed calm, leaning back in my chair as Sofia approached, her grip tightening on the cup.
"Let her do it," I said, keeping my voice steady. "What, Sof? You're gonna spill that on me? Because your little lover touched me?"

Sofia's eyes shimmered with tears she was desperately trying to hold back. She stood there for a second, breathing hard, clearly trying to decide what to do. But she wouldn't dare. Not here. Not in front of everyone. I would make her life a living nightmare and she knew it.

Adriana laughed softly beside me, but I kept my gaze on Sofia, daring her to make a move. I could see her resolve crumbling. She was shaking now, her fingers gripping the cup so hard I thought it might break.

But instead, with a frustrated cry, she turned and slammed the drink into the wall beside us. The dark liquid splashed everywhere, but none of it touched me.

The cafeteria went silent as Sofia stormed out, tears running down her face, and the drink still dripping from the wall. All eyes were on me now, but I didn't move. I didn't need to.

Adriana burst out laughing, shaking her head. "That girl is a mess...and we really thought she was nice?"

I nodded, still watching the door where Sofia had disappeared. "She's not gonna let this go."

Adriana shrugged, completely unconcerned. "Let her try."
