I stood at the door, my bag slung over one shoulder, fingers tightening around the strap. "Avery Esmeray Black, do you have everything?" My mother's voice cut through the silence.
"Yes, of course, I have everything, Mother." I sighed. I hated when she used my full name, it always made me feel like I was just a thing to her. "you know I don't like being called that," I muttered, glancing down at the ground, trying to avoid her gaze.
She stood there, her posture unyielding. "Well, don't disappoint me while you're there," she said, her voice dripping with warning. "And try not to ruin your name any more than it already has been. And under no circumstances—" her voice lowered,"—try to find your uncle."
The mention of him, even unspoken, felt like a bitter taste on my tongue. Without another word, I stepped into the chimney.

The station was already chaotic when I arrived. People surged forward in waves, luggage in hand, children running, and voices over voices. I found myself shoved, barely enough space to walk, let alone breathe. "Ugh, how annoying," I muttered under my breath, clutching my belongings close, ensuring nothing had been left behind.
After pushing my way through, I finally managed to step onto the train, weaving through the crowded compartments. The hustle and noise got on my nerves, and just as I thought I found a spot, I collided with someone.
"Ugh, watch where you're going," I snapped.
"Oh, I'm sorry! My bad." A boy stood there, slightly flustered, brown hair falling over his forehead, glasses perched on his nose. He looked every bit lost in his thoughts.
I blinked, my annoyance fading as recognition hit me. "Harry Potter?"
He looked surprised, though it quickly turned into something like resignation. "Yeah... I guess everyone knows who I am huh?." He adjusted his glasses, his gaze flickering over me. "By the way, who are you? I've never seen you before, but you look like you're around my age."
Before I could respond, someone rammed into me from behind, sending me stumbling forward. Harry, caught me just before I could fall completely.
"Careful," he said, steadying me with a concerned look.
I didn't have time to thank him before a voice rang out, dripping with contempt. "Finally found yourself a girlfriend, huh, Potter?"
I straightened up, ready to fire something back at the tall boy with blond hair. He eyed me, his lips curling into a smirk before he walked off, clearly pleased with himself.
I glared after him, muttering a curse in French under my breath, which earned me a brief look from Harry. ''It's not worth it...trust me''
"That's Draco Malfoy," Harry said with a sigh. "Don't mind him."
I brushed it off "Well, he seems rather charming," I muttered sarcastically.
Harry gave me a small smile before nodding toward the compartment. "If you're looking for a seat, you can join me and my fiends. I don't think you will find anything else''
Considering I didn't know anyone else on this train. "Sure," I replied, following him through the train.
As we reached the compartment, I peeked inside. There was a girl petting her cat, a boy who seemed to try and safe his rat from the cat which made me smile, and a man slouched in his seat, who looked like he was asleep.
Harry gestured toward the girl. "This is Hermione," he introduced. "And that's Ron," he added, motioning to the redhead who waved with a mouth full of food.
