Emily's POV:
I woke up from the weirdest dream. I wonder if Ryan is really gonna text me today. That would be pretty cool, because it would mean I'm not losing my mind.
I got to school and I felt my phone vibrate, but I saw Lexi and Michelle. I couldn't check my phone. They'd ask who it was and how I met them. I can't say "I met him in a dream and I think I like him" because that's insane. Lexi hugged me and we talked about what we did during the weekend. Michelle just stood by, rushing us so she wouldn't be late to class.
I got a chance to check my phone. Ryan really texted me. "Top of the morning to ya, Em". He's such a dork. But it's adorable. He's so adorkable. Ahh I start smiling every time I think about him. I guess you could say, he's dreamy. Get it?
Ryan's POV:
I woke up at about 7:45 and jumped to my phone. I texted the number etched into my brain. "Please be real," I whispered to myself. I was in a weird mood. Normally, I'm all about getting to school so my teachers can tell me everything I already know. Today, all I could think about was if Emily was real or not. I can't help it.
I was late getting to school, thanks to traffic. My boys Earl and Warren ran over to escort me to PE before any authority figures saw me. "Where ya been?" Warren asked. "Oh.. Uh, I just woke up late," I said, my mind wandering.
"Talking to all the gals in different locals?" Earl said with a smug look. "Or did you finally choose a cheerleader to date?"
"No, no, just overslept. Didn't wanna wake up." I said with a smile, texting Em as I spoke. Em responds so fast, it's freaky. But I'm glad I don't have to wait forever. I really love talking to her.
After PE, I kinda coasted through the day. I already know all the material, it's so easy. I texted Emily whenever I could and ran home. You wouldn't believe what happened next.
Emily's POV:
So, I got a ride home after the most boring school day ever. I walked into my room, and Ryan was there. Sweaty and shirtless and... Hot.
"What the hell? How the hell?" I stuttered. "I thought we could only do this in our sleep."
"Well, I did just lay down for a nap," he said, panting, "I ran all the way home today. Maybe only one of us needs to be asleep."
This is just freaky. I probably would look like a psychotic maniac if anyone saw me talking right now. "Ryan, imagine a shirt or something. You're in the presence of a lady."
"Sorry, I don't think it works like that." I melted when he said that. I'm tempted to make a move on him, that body is so chiseled and strong, like the world's sexiest statue.
"My mind is totally blown right now." He started. "Your room rocks. Mine is a nerd cave."
"Dude, you're cute as hell. Like a kitten." I said. "OH, I KNOW! I'll call you kitten now."
"Seems a little feminine, but I kinda like it." He replied, a smug look on his face. I just wanted to kiss him. "Hey, have you been getting weird thoughts? I was ranting about a band called Shinedown and I never even heard of them."
"That's one of my favorite bands!" I almost screamed, "Oh my glob, what if we can gain each other's knowledge and hear each other's thoughts when we're awake--"
"And only communicate when one of us is asleep?" He finished for me. "We share thoughts? Well, only some of them I think, you don't seem to know my secrets. And I don't know yours."
"Yeah, seems like it. Also, I'm not that smart, but I think connecting to you helps me understand this weird thing we got going on."
"Em, you should go to sleep, I don't think we can go to our paradise while you're awake." He never called it paradise. I did. Maybe Ryan and I are more connected than we thought... Meaning he's gonna find out I like him.
